Joe Zias was the curator for anthropology and archeology at the Rockefeller Museum in Jerusalem from 1972 to 1997 and personally numbered the Talpiot ossuaries.

I've been away from here as I've moved house and that took a lot of time, and I now commute 4 hours a day so won't be around much until I retire late October.

However, if you read the gospel of "matthew" (the one written for a Jewish audience) nowhere does it state that Joseph and Mary lived in Nazareth. They appear to have lived in Bethlehem from which they fled to Egypt and then returned to Nazareth because Archelaus was reigning in Judea. Just another of those troubling contradictions between gospel accounts that believers ignore!

This may sound surprising coming from me (for those who know me) but I am not ready to pass judgment on Cameron and Jacobovici just yet. We have glimpsed the evidence to be presented and we have certainly heard the opposition, but we have yet to hear their case in context instead of a collection of snippets and sound bites.

I prefer to wait until they've presented their case. Then I will analyze the info and make a judgment. Let's face it. The burden of proof is on them, not those who say the claims are not true.




p.s. I had a 4 hour commute a day for 8 years. 2 hrs to, 2 hrs from work. In the beginning I didnt mind but then my job got more boring, the cost of fuel increased and I soon began to despise it. good luck Doug.

I'm with you on that viewpoint Monk.
Same with the commute, when I was somewhat younger than now I lived 96 miles from my office over mainly country roads, and then spent the greater part of my working day behind the wheel as well.

Hi, one of the urls is a review by someone who had an advanced copy.
And there has been a lot of discussion by people either involved in the program or who were involved with the tomb excavation, etc, and also who have looked at the pdf on the Discovery site which gives a lot of the basic evidence.

We have glimpsed the evidence to be presented

If it is anything like The Exodus Decoded it will be long on glitzy production values and short on "evidence."

I have also seen the many attempts to control the discussion In the Hall of Maat also, by focusing on specifc aspects of the evidence as separate discussions. I tried on several occasions to follow it but was quickly overwhelmed by the speed in which the posts unfolded. I don't know how you kept it straight (if you did).

I glanced at your link to the reviewer who had an advance copy and decided not to read it until later because I didn't want it to sway my point of view which is already leaning toward the negative. I have also looked at the press conference and other evidence presented on Discovery. I have assumed perhaps erroneously, that those who appear on the dias with Jacobovici and Camerson are in fact supporting the claims so I have not reviewed their statements, because I am sure they will be presented in the context of the documentary.

Doug, thanks for the work you have done in giving your peers and the public access to the information. I respect your efforts and, believe me, I will soon be reviewing what you have generously made easily available to us.

And thank you, Forum Monk. I also find it difficult to keep up with discussions and I get an email copy of every post! When threads get long they also get hard to load, which I think is offputting. And subthreads get lost, which is why I at least sometimes start new threads on a new aspect of a discussion.
