A fine article on the man who re-discovered Gilgamesh.

Then, on a fragment of a tablet, he came across a story that would soon astonish the Western world. He read of a flood, a ship caught on a mountain and a bird sent out in search of dry land—the first independent confirmation of a vast flood in ancient Mesopotamia, complete with a Noah-like figure and an ark.

Nice article Min! This is the first thing in weeks that I have had the chance to read that wasn't assigned reading (heavy class load this term).
Biblical studies are not exactly my thing but... He apparently put it to good use.

The Gilgamesh story is actually quite long and about things having nothing to do with the Flood. (such as sex with a prostitute). What are the odds that one of the first things this guy reads is about the flood? Fascinating.

Hello Raven, nice to see you. Hang in there with the studies.
