Geek that I am, I'm fascinated by the way that apparently disparate scientific fields sometimes converge to produce unexpected synergy. I was born too early, but I'd love to be around when (if) we have an opportunity to apply what we have learned about our own development to what we find light years distant...

The 'just one more planet' comment tells us something about the general public though.
Personally I'd like to see the catalogue they mention.

I hope those planets keep a low profile or Bush will attack them, too.

Come on Min. You know darn well that those right-wing creationists don't believe that there are any planets beyond our solar system. And even if they did, they don't believe that they could possibly be inhabited because if they were the bible would tell us so. Since there is no mention in the book of anything beside earth, Dubbya has no problem with them.

Keeping a low profile is not gonna do 'm much good if they've got oil!
