WASHINGTON (AP) — On a day oil prices leaped to unheard-of highs, senators lined up Big Oil's biggest executives and pummeled them with complaints that they're pretending to be "hapless victims" while raking in record profits.

If I recall from my old accounting classes, "profit" is what you make after you meet your costs. Therefore, record "profits" merely represent them making more money AFTER they pay the higher price for crude oil. I hope at least one senator took an accounting class.

My knowledge of accounting is the same as yours Min. It's the same every year. Prices should come down after Memorial day, but this year has set records.
