Excavating Teotihuacan

They're at it again. Anyone care to guess what might be down there?

[by the way, as a pedant I am contractually obligated to mention that I certainly don't recall Mexico City's barrios encroaching upon the site at all, unless they've expanded about 20km in the last couple of years. The local town of San Juan Teotihuacan (or San something Teotihuacan) might not win any beauty prizes but it's hardly a slum.]

Sarabia said the tunnel was first discovered in the early 1970s but it was closed soon afterward, and most of the information about it was lost when the archeologist who found it died.
Ever have your hard disk crash and lose a ton of important files? Any archaeologist who cares about preserving the past needs to have a backup plan - just like a computer user.

This is Mexico remember. All bets are off. I've got some scary 1900s photos of early Teotihuacan digs performed with dynamite!
