I gave up my subscription to Time long ago, but I may have to pick this one up from the newsstand. Not that Time has ever gotten anything right...

It's even worse: I have a subscription, but since I live in Europe, I get Time Europe. Not Time USA. Which is not sold outside the USA.
So I expect to never see that article....
(Unless one of you posts it here, of course...)

It's a very good story and shows that academic myopia is still alive and well.

As I mentioned before, I have been reading the old threads a few at a time along with all the new stuff that gets posted everyday. Several of the threads have combined to pique my curiosity about the peopling of the Americas and also marine archaeology. So I wrote to professor Jon Erlandson at the UofO Anthropology/Archaeology department and he sent me this email:

I'm attaching a paper I wrote a few years ago about the coastal migration theory. Hope it helps. There have been some fledgling attempts to search for sites on the Pacific continental shelf, two people you might try to contact would be James Dixon at INSTAAR, University of Colorado and Darryl Fedge of ParksCanada. It opened ok for me Min. It's 34 pages, so it's a long read. This is a really good paper and it should please everybodythat we've pretty much brought most of this forward at one time or another.
