I didn’t know he was a son of a sailor, but the interesting thing about Jim is that, while there is a tombstone in a cemetery, there is no paperwork of any kind about his death.
No police report, no coroners report, nothing.
Do not believe there is even any record of by who or when the cemetery plot was bought.
One day he was hanging around. The next day no one knew where he was.
And, in a nation as bureaucratic as France, that is very unusual.
Maybe he did fall down that rabbit hole and into the light.
Janis and Jimmy are, sadly, well documented.

So did Neanderthals ritually enter the quantum state and did they take drugs to do it?
Well, there is no absolute yes or no to either of those two questions, and maybe we’ll never know. But we can take some educated guesses and have some fun along the way.
This is the oldest piece of rock art yet discovered, dated to about 77,000 years ago and found in the Blombos Cave on the southern coast of Africa.
As you can see, a regular pattern has been etched on the red ochre. The pattern is a combination of zig-zags and latticing, similar to the visual phenomena experienced at Stage One by the subjects in David Lewis Williams’ experiment.
This study also showed that those taking drugs to reach the quantum usually skipped Stages One and Two, and went straight to Stage Three, thus missing out the geometric patterns like the ones on the red ochre from the Blombos Cave.
Obviously, we cannot base a whole hypothesis on such slender evidence. But add to that two facts, and things start to firm up a little more: 1) the kind of geometric zig-zag engraving seen on the Blombos artefact did go on feature in Neolithic ritual art, as shown at Catal Hoyuk, which according to its archaeologist, Hodder, was entirely given over to shamanic-type ritual.
And 2) the larger brains of Neanderthal man, as discussed earlier, could have been the result of his having greater quantum activity than us, however he got there.
We see the same geometric patterns in Neolithic engravings from all over the world. Here’s an example from Newgrange in Ireland, where we see the swirling spirals of the vortex.
So it is partly because of these geometric patterns occurring in rock art from the Palaeolithic and into the Neolithic that a fairly substantial school of thought has arisen that ancient man was in touch with quantum.
(There is much more about this subject, and many more examples of Palaeo and Neolithic cave art in this thread, In Search of the Palaeo Shaman: http://archaeologica.boardbot.com/viewt ... 31&start=0)
So the next question is: if Neanderthal man didn’t use drugs to get there, what other ways are there?
There are many: singing, dancing, drumming, prolonged darkness, hypnagogia ... all of these can help your brain to enter the quantum or shamanic experience once you have been initiated and have been taught what to do.
The Sami shamans in the Scandinavian Arctic Circle still today use a form of trance-inducing singing called yoiking:
Siberian shamans use drums. Scientists have found that a steady beat of between four and seven seconds will send the brain into what they call the theta state.
http://www.toolsforwellness.com/brainstates.html
Prolonged darkness is another great way into the quantum, and can be achieved over a period of days. Eliade tells us that Siberian apprentice shamans were kept in dark caves for nine months. It would have been easy to achieve such darkness in further northern climes where on some days, the sun barely makes it above the horizon.
Neanderthal skeletons have been found as far north as Siberia.
Those examining the caves at Lascaux and Chauvet in the south of France that contain Neanderthal paintings have recently postulated that music of some kind was used. It appears that the paintings are situated where specific acoustic properties present themselves within the natural architecture of the caves.
So of course none pf this is even close to conclusive. But I guess in time, more evidence will begin to appear and, anyway, it’s fun to think about these things.
Further on into history, and the artists Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte would use hypnagogia as a means to enter the quantum. Hypnagogia involves remaining as long as possible in the half state between waking and sleep. Magritte would refer to his paintings as “the representations of half sleep.”
The only thing I can’t work out is what Hieronymus Bosch was on. But it seems like he knew about the tunnel.

If you were to witness a shaman on a journey, all you would see is a guy stretched out on the floor as if unconscious.
The body is just the outer shell that houses the spirit. It isn't the body that goes on the journey ... just the rest of you.

There is some evidence that Jim was “burned out” and not to happy with his public persona.
We can only hope that he had a cash stash and is living and laughing at us all in the Canary Islands or some such place.
Interesting sidelight on the drum beat induced trance state.
It is not just sound.
In another life I had to consul against using a flashing cursor in a software product because it “set off” friends of mine that were epileptic.
The laser lights in time with the bass at any rock show will testify to how well it works.

There’s something else quite vital to consider when discussing the cognition of ancient man. He lived in three worlds, not the one world we live in today. In fact, we've only very recently started to live in one world – those of us, that is, who have rejected the Christian three dimensional cosmological model.
So it’s worth pausing for just a couple of seconds to consider the implications of that in terms of the evolution of human thinking – and wondering whether it was a step too far, too fast. Can human cognition really 'evolve' that quickly on such a fundamental level and still be immune from Future Shock?
In rejecting the Christian model in its totality, the words ‘babies’ and ‘bathwater’ come to my mind.
As far back into mythology as we can get, man lived in three worlds. The three worlds are found in the ancient cultures of Egypt, India, China, Greece and Mesopotamia, and they also made up the cosmologies of the primitive tribes of Asia, America and Africa.
To ancient man, this earth was in the middle of the three worlds – the others being the Upper World above and Lower World or Underworld below. Running through them all, at the centre, is a sacred mountain on whose summit live the gods.
In central Asia, this mountain was called Sumbur, Sumer or Sumur. In India, it was called Sumeru. In Greece, it was Mount Olympus. The Persians had Haraberezaiti (Elbruz). To the Germans (Teutonics) it was Himingbjorg; the Saxons had Irminusul (the universal column that sustains everything), the Norse had Asgard and the Chinese had Mount Khun-Lan.
Then the Christian religion came along. The 4th century synods, possibly realising that they could not uproot an idea so deeply embedded in our psychologies, changed the three worlds into Heaven, Earth and Hell. In recent years, many have rejected this idea, not least because of our insistence on only recognising what we see through Newtonian blinkers. We quite correctly identified that the astronomers haven't found any angels with harps or a Devil presiding over a bubbling inferno in the four per cent of reality available to us.
But reconsider these three worlds – obviously without the heavenly harps and hellish pitchforks! – in the light of what we now know about the quantum. Perhaps then we can see how ancient man lived in a much more richly textured and multi-dimensional universe than we do today. And with his relationship to the gods (the spirits of the quantum, I believe) he felt supported and cared for within the greater scheme of things. He had context.
Today, we don’t give our young people any context. By insisting on only living within a Newtonian reality, we have gradually shut down all our options - and theirs - and cut ourselves off from the sort of diversity and richness of existence that we have evolved mentally to expect - and are designed for.
We live in a very flat world one, now – more flat than anyone experienced pre-Columbus. We perceive ourselves on this one layer floating in a huge dark cavern of a universe that we barely understand and in which we feel that we are alone – which is why we search so frantically for signs of life on other planets.
We no longer know how to commune with our ancestors in the Underworld. So instead, we use our Newtonian tools to go off in search of the common ancestor.
We have moved from cyclical thinking to linear thinking. Man no longer sees himself as one with the great totality of all things. We just see ourselves walking a straight line, from a pointless birth to a pointless death.
From a Newtonian perspective, we know exactly how small we are ... like a grain of sand that could be easily blown away. But because we've lost our quantum perpective, we also cannot see how huge and beautiful we are at the same time.
We tell our young people that they should be happy and grateful because of all the technological advancements we've made. We shower them with iPods, iTunes, iPhones, iMacs and iSkypes – because everything now is about i. That’s all there is for them – the i. They stand alone, i-solated, in the middle of nothingness. They have endless ways to communicate with one another, but nothing really to say.
No wonder so many of them feel so alienated.

Yes, John. The way that this Neollithic vase is decorated certainly does look familiar.
This unique artistic production, dominated by repeating lines, circles and spirals, amazingly echoes modern op art, also known as optical art, which is a genre of visual that makes use of geometric shapes and optical illusions. The unusual art offers the best glimpse into this mysterious civilization.

Thank you, John. I'd not heard of her before. Very interesting.
Anyway, I want to ask you - what do you think of this boat?
You probably already knew this, but I only learned today that the Sun plows its way through our galaxy like a boat.
http://www.shekpvar.net/~dna/Publicatio ... osmos.html
One of the oldest names for the Sun is the Rig-vedic, Sanskrit ‘arka’.
Ra, the Sun god would steer his ark to complete an arc of the sky from dawn to dusk.
It takes the ark or boat of the Sun 25,920 years to complete a circuit of all the astrological houses in the galaxy. It spends about 2160 years in each astrological sign and each one of these periods is referred to as an age – the Age of Pisces, for instance, which were are currently in.
In mythology, the end of each age is symbolised by a Flood. I guess you don't need me to fill in the rest .... except to say that the animals taken on board the ark (not just in Genesis, but in many other flood myths too, from around the world) represent the astrological signs of the zodiac that the Sun ark passes through as it sails through the Milky Way. 'Zodiac' is Greek for 'circle of animals'.
And there is also usually a handful of survivors who are commanded by their gods/God to produce a new human race, symbolic of the new age. In exchange, some sort of agreement is reached, or promise is made by the gods/God that they won't ever flood the whole world again. Of course, they do flood it again, at the end of the next age 2160 years later. So it's lucky it's only a story!

But it's not just a boat. It's also an ark. In fact, it is the Ark. It is Noah's Ark and it is the Ark of the Covenant (the Ark of the Promise, symbolised by the rainbow). To envision the Sun's presence in the Milky Way galaxy, think of a ship plowing through the ocean, being tossed by currents. As the ship sails ahead, a bow shock spreads around the vessel. The area under the Sun's influence, stretching well beyond the planets and forming what's called the heliosphere, is like a ship. The outer edges of the heliosphere are gently buffeted by interstellar wind, the gas and dust between the stars. As the Sun orbits the center of the Milky Way galaxy, the heliosphere moves as well, creating a bow shock ahead of it in interstellar space. Blowing outward billions of kilometers from the Sun is the solar wind, a thin stream of electrically charged gas....

You are right on target.
Now, think of a galaxy as a huge fleet of suns sailing
The oceans of space. Same parameters.
Let that sink in.
Then, very carefully, pick up what we call the Universe,
Which posesses a very small, low single digit dimensionality,
And explore the concept that there be multiple Universes,
Again, a fleet, which we, for the most part
Are simply unaware.
I don't have a word which encompasses the ocean(s)
That multiple Universes might sail.
From Mr. Van Morrison:
"We were born before the wind
Also younger than the sun
Ere the bonnie boat was won as we sailed into the mystic
Hark, now hear the sailors cry
Smell the sea and feel the sky
Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic
And when that fog horn blows I will be coming home
And when that fog horn blows I want to hear it
I dont have to fear it
I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
Then magnificently we will float into the mystic
And when that fog horn blows you know I will be coming home
And when thst fog horn whistle blows I got to hear it
I dont have to fear it
I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And together we will float into the mystic
Come on girl..."

I would think for the parallel to hold true you would have to consider the entire solar system as the boat, not just the Sun.
Boats carry things.
The Sun, by itself, doesn’t.
But if you expand the scope to the Solar System, now you have planets, and their inhabitants, as cargo.
The Egyptian engraving seems to show the Sun leading a boat full of stuff rather than being the boat itself.

Why Tutenkamun doesn't have a beard
Noah's Ark is just one cosmological myth. As discussed, it is about the progression of the sun (or ‘arka’) as it plows through the galactic ocean from one cosmological age to another during what the Babylonians called the Great Year of 25,920 years.
So it begs the question, how many other myths relate to cosmological phenomena? Well, imho, a great deal of them, or certainly those that are most fundamental to ancient cultures, that show up in their myths, their iconography, petroglyphs and their rock art.
Why we haven't understood this before is for three reasons.
Firstly, because the metaphors of myth are stories about ancient skies – that is, not the skies we see today or possibly even have any record of.
Secondly, it was thought that ancient man didn’t have anything to teach us about science. He didn't even have a telescope, for heaven's sake!
And thirdly because, unlike ancient man, we've been blinded by Newtonian physics into seeing this universe as fragmented and disconnected pieces of rock floating in 'space'.
But even the word 'space' is a misnomer, as the ancients knew - the Vedics recognised it as something and not no thing or nothing or a space. They called it 'aether' and now it is being discovered again in the form of plasma physics.
We are now being shown that the whole universe is one piece of material. Today's physicists are calling it 'plasma' instead of 'aether', but it's the same thing. Scientists are finding that this plasma or aether is made up of electromagnetic fields, and that everything is connected by cable-like twisted structures, just as is shown in ancient myth:

Thus, the stories of mythology, and the rock art and the iconography of the serpent cult, showed the same double twisted serpent structures.
The supposed 'beard' of Tutenkamun is not a beard.
But ancient man was not just a detached, scientific observer of the cosmos, as we are today. He understood that he was inextricably linked to it, and he harnessed his own ELectroMAGnetic forces to connect to it and holistically commune with it, like this:
This is an excellent video where scientists and mythologists show how plasma physics meets mythology and spiritual, shamanic teachings in simple English and layman’s terms with lots of graphic images and great photography. It is just over an hour long, but I think well worth the time spent if this subject interests you – but even if you just watch the first 10 minutes, you’ll get the gist of it.

These filaments are twisted together like two intertwined snakes or serpents. As above, so below and we see this same structure in the DNA helix:
We live in an electric universe. Space is filled with plasma, the fourth state of matter. Plasma consists of hot ionized atoms and is influenced by magnetic fields. Plasma also conducts electrical current. Such current flow creates magnetic fields which affect the structure of the plasma...
Plasmas do not behave like a gas. They develop structure when a charge gradient produces the movement of electric current. The current flow and resultant magnetic fields cause the plasma to form filaments that twist together into ropes. As long as the current continues, the structure remains intact.
Thus, the stories of mythology, and the rock art and the iconography of the serpent cult, showed the same double twisted serpent structures.
