Oh, I don't object when someone comes up with actual evidence of religious/ritualistic practices. We know they happened in virtually every culture ever discovered....we still do it today.

It's when they take everything that can't be pigeon-holed into an obvious category and declare that it must be "ritualistic" that I get annoyed with archaeologists. It's just too easy a cop out answer.

Consider the implications.

"Old" magic is


Worldwide

Cohesive in awareness, intent, and application

i.e., Shamanic

Goes back at least 500k years, if not more

And is utterly divorced from

Politics, Power, Economics

We do not choose the magic.

It chooses us.


"The Sorcerer's Apprentice" is a fine

Metaphor for the reverse polarity

Of those who think they can

Choose their magic

To improve their mortal state.

I guess how you define “old” or “new” is a matter of personal perspective.
At 6000 years I would consider the pool “old”
And kind of neat to have in your back yard.
I do sometimes envy the Brits for the amount of old stuff they can find while out for a walk.

Which reverses right back to the Shamanic,

Only personal, individual honesty and perception

Shared in a communal awareness

Which spanned tens of thousands of years.

Consider, in depth, the implications of this statement

With regard to the imposed "conditions" of

Politics. Power. Economics. Religion.

Think of this, at present
