On page 72 of this remarkable disertation by Charles C. Mann. His research is amazing for lack of a PhD. If on a board of an university, it would be awarded. Into the New England "Pilgram" landing now---find that the tribes are taller, better health, better diet, better armed, and smell a hell of a lot better than the British and French landing there. The tribes helped the early colonists survive. Writings showed hundreds of villages from Massachusetts to Maine with a population of 20K to 50K. Another writer a couple years later said the coast was a vast cemetary 200 miles long by 20 miles wide. Disease---Disease---I do not know if I will read the rest of the book.

You have to finish it Gunny.

In fact I feel it should be required reading at the High School World History level.

Indeed, Gunny. I found it a remarkable work.

Interesting sidelight---Discussed the current swine flu thing with a UT biology professor at a party last night---he thinks the odds of four(4) virus combining is off the charts. "Could this be a MANUFACTORED FLU?" "See no other way!!" SO----perhaps our moslin friends have found a way, as the Europeans did in 1519, to wipe out the USA without facing the Texan rifles. The magazines of my AK-47, however, are loaded.

Speaking of the swine flu----A while back I read a peer review of an article in, I think, NATURE. This investigator looked at the distribution of deaths from the 1918 Spanish Flu, and the 1957 Hong Cong Flu. Spanish Flu killed MILLIONS including the USA. He found----people explosed to SUNLIGHT in their daily jobs were 50% less to die of the flu. He determined that VITAMIN D (As in dog) was the repealling factor. Correct, or not, Went and bought a bottle. Load your magazines

The same thing occurred ca. 8,350 BCE, apparently from the introduction of European disease vectors by the Red Paint People. The die off was so massive I mistook it at the time when I wrote my book for the date of the Holocene start impacts.

Pandemic appears to have occurred again ca 1275 with the Norse introduction of disease vectors, and again at Spanish contact, and again at English contact.

The Swine Flu seems to be a manufactured crisis, as opposed to a manufactured "virus."

Andy Borowitz notes the following.

Of course, we have no texts for those earlier claims.

You mean, in spite the increase in medical knowledge since 1918, we are going to have the “pandemic” until after the May sweeps?

I guess all the major media outlets are taking Obama’s Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, advice to heart in his infamous quote;

“Never waste good crises.”

Emanuel got that from the media.

"Yellow Journalism" goes back to the 1890's.
“You furnish the pictures and I'll furnish the war.”

Same idea over here Min, we simply use different terminology, 'don't let the facts get in the way of a good story!'

For all his power over public opinion, Hurst was still just a news reporter.
Emanuel is in the Oval Office daily, if not hourly.
He is not a reporter, he is a ploicy maker.
And a scary one.

We just survived 8 years of the biggest collection of scumbags to ever infest the White House and you're worried about Rahm Emanuel?

BTW, Hearst was a newspaper publisher, not a reporter.

Sorry Min,
But I have lived in the rim of the cess pool these two guys are graduates of for my whole life.
Close enough to smell it, but not so close as to get used to it.
If you think the last 8 years were bad, tighten your seat belt.

I'll take my chances.

Hard to imagine anything worse than Bush and Darth Cheney.
