Multiregional Evolution Lives!

A new blog by John Hawks on the new report that we all are carrying archaic genes from another species of human. The report and article was out two days ago and Hawks has a link to it in his blog. The interbreeding reportedly took place twice that they can tell (although probably much more often IMO). Good blog and good article. At this point, I don't think Neanderthal should be considered a separate species.

I certainly agree with it hittin' the fan Min. This article has been posted to most scientific forums already. Charlie Hatchett has it up in at least three. By tomorrow there will be some excellent opinions put forward, and if there is anything earthshaking I'll get back and share it. This is a big step forward imo.

The counter-attack, when it comes, will be fierce!

It will be as fierce as it will be absurd, because they'll be fighting physical evidence. So it'll be a rearguard action.
Ignore it, and let's get on.

There is a quote, Sun Tzu I believe, which says "never cut off a man's retreat unless you want to see how hard he can truly fight."

This report is pretty close to that.

So let them scream and shout their heads off, and let them stew in their own broth, but leave them to their own designs and go around them toward new vistas. A much more efficient application of energy.

Oh, they will....but this will not be only a two-sided argument. The creationists

will be insisting that 40,000 years ago the world was not here and if it was then mankind was riding on dinosaurs.

Glad to see some meaningful evidence of interbreeding between modern humans and other homo offshoots. It really never made sense to me that there would be little or no mixing of geographically proximate hominin provided it was physiologically possible. I mean, it may be crude by today's standards to say it, but there's no denying that everyone likes a little strange sometimes. What's stranger than a girl with a unibrow the size of Delaware?

Now there's your TV drama. Desperate Housewives with Neanderthals and Sapiens experiencing complications in life and love? My wife would watch that....

"never cut off a man's retreat unless you want to see how hard he can truly fight."
A maxim I hammered into all those people I have trained over the years.
The news simply demonstrates that the more we learn the less we know.
Give it a few more years and students will laughing at the OOA theory.

Roy.

May we both live to see that day.

(And, of course, retain our marbles long enough to appreciate it).

You mean they aren't yet?
Are you serious?
Is OOA still taught in our universities? Our bastions of state of the art scientific knowledge...? Our bulwarks of free thought...?
