Until the next hypothesis comes along that points the other way...
Example: Bosgrove Man.
Studied to death in the last 15 years, yet not even his age can be determined to anything closer than
somewhere between 530 KYA and 175 KYA! So any other attribution is only on even shakier ground. Lots of room for interpretation and hypothesizing. A.k.a. speculation.
Which of course is a major attraction of paleoanthropology.
