Has anyone ever heard of meteorites causing mass disease shortly after impact?

Pretty typical bureaucratic response.

No matter if it is true or not, it works.
Sometimes the end does justify the means.

Are there any other examples where meteorites have been said to cause illness, besides in The War of the World's?
