Who were the Vikings? I know the Danes were. With Norway in the news lately, it seems they have forgotten how to fight.

Danes, Norwegians, Swedes.
Not sure about the Finns.
They were always a kind of miss-fit.
There are some "Viking" sites in modern Finland but they do not seem to be "Finnish."

90 teenagers killed in Norway by one gunman? About half the teenagers in West Texas carry a handgun. The others have a Bowie Knife nearby. The bad guy would have lasted about 6 seconds. One of my favorite stories is this creep from New Jersey back in the 80s who traveled down the SE robbing bars as they closed. Came down IH10 to San Antonio on his way to Commiefornia. Invaded this bar in west side of SA and said "this is a robbery"---Was hit by 7 bullets of three different calibers. Texas

Only one CCL at Tucson would have taken care of that.

Speculation.
The attacker always has the advantage because he knows what is going on. Everyone else will be ducking for cover and trying to figure out WTF is happening. And when the cops arrive you can bet your ass they will arrest everyone in sight with a gun.

I wonder what teenagers (or anyone else for that matter ) in Norway would choose , even after the event . I doubt it would be the west Texas option .

Some years ago a similar event occurred here in the UK when 23? were slain. At the time it was observed that had more people had firearms the killer wouldn't have got past the first door step. The government's response was even tighter gun control.
I have just withdrawn from an acrimonious debate elsewhere on the subject of killing Badgers as a means of controlling Bovine TB, when the antis basically insisted that their 'beliefs' trumped science and logic.
We have seen the same here in the past with RS.
Mention firearms in the UK and as sure as night follows day someone will post the death toll in the US. As a simply set of numbers!
The 'debate' on Badgers has clearly demonstrated that people have no understanding of facts and figures nor statistics, so each time time I point out that the UK's gun deaths are from illegally held fire arms and that they are comparing chalk and cheese, 'cos the US statistics posted cover murders, accidents, gang warfare and suicides etc whilst the Brit ones don't, I am met with that person's 'belief' and their absolute certainty that the'r 'belief' must be correct and that the statistics are wrong!
I was even informed that Badgers must get TB from cattle 'cos it's 'Bovine' TB. Yeah! and you get Chickenpox from Hens!
Imposing UK style gun controls on the US is unlikely I suggest to remove the number of suicides, murders etc. And would be suicide who can't find a means of ending it all must be one of the all time greatest losers!

One person with a legal CCL handgun could have stopped Tucson, Ft Hood, West Virginia, ETC. Otherwise we are sheep in the slaughter pen. Must not be good waiting for some scumbag to get around to your turn to be shot. Not this bloke.

You think you've go problems Gunny. Over here your views, and mine, would lead to us being seen as 'extremists'. In the 1950s the government of the day, of the Left, decided that we could no longer be trusted even to look after ourselves, it is now a specific offence, punishable with jail time, to carry any item for the specific purpose of self defence.
We must be the only people in the world who can be punished for defending them selves!

Sad about ENGLAND who ruled the world. Must be true about dynasties lasting three hundred years. Our obamashithead is pushing us to that pricipace. Seems china is next. Glad I will not be here to see it. However, I will go out as a lion, not a sheep.

Actually, Gunny, I think there was a CCL guy at the Tucson affair.
If I recall correctly, he was at the back of the crowd.
When he was interviewed later and said he decided not to do anything.
By the time he worked his way to a place where he could do anything the bad guy had already used up his ammo and was being subdued.
He was concerned if it was known he had a weapon he would be mistaken as an accomplice.
He decided to just fade away.
I take this story as a good thing.
It shows that CCL carriers at not a bunch of hot heads waiting for a chance to shoot up the place.
They can be cool, access the situation, and make good decisions based on their observances.

So the CCL guy was cowering in a culvert while many shot? They should not give permits to sheep.
