From a book blurb ("Connecticut's Indigenous Peoples")

Lavin lays out the theories of man coming to North America, whether over the Bering Straits "land bridge" (actually up to 1,300 miles wide) or in boats from Asia down the west coast and then gradually heading east over land, or "the newest and most controversial theory" the Wabanaki or Abenaki people coming from Europe across Iceland, Greenland and into Canada when the ocean levels were lower and land mass larger.
Seems they have names now 8)
