Coneheads

The Western Hemisphere. General term for the Americas following their discovery by Europeans, thus setting them in contradistinction to the Old World of Africa, Europe, and Asia.

Most of the "conspiracy theories" start with some attempt to conceal facts.

Other times "conspiracy theories" start with some inability to face facts,
or with faulty religious frameworks into which there is an attempt to cram the evidence.

Hrdicka of the Smithsonian comes to mind in regards to the "giant" skeletons of North America.

Add to that the general inability of the anthropological community to admit that the Andaste existed.

Then have a general population that still tries to denigrate the First Peoples accomplishments.

And of course "Ancient Aliens" and imaginary European empires are way more entertaining than the reality.

I am simply a seeker of the truth E.P., and astonished at America's refusal to acknowledge our true history. Scientific folks such as Hrdicka buried their heads in the sand, and buried many thousands of unusual skeletons in their black hole of American history. The question is why? Did that give them power or financial gain? That is doubtful, so what was their reason? Finding ancient Europeans here in America does not invalidate the Manifest Destiny doctrine in any way. How do they justify denying settlement of the Channel Islands by Nordic types 8,000 BCE, when they have thousands of skeletons available. It totally defies logic. I do not accept the Ancient Aliens b.s., because these folks take away the achievements of our ancestors by alleging that aliens did it. But, thankfully things are changing over time - accept with our N.A. archeologists. Note that French Archeologists are now alleging African colonists were in the Amazon 50K BCE.

P.S. I have your book, but even you avoided mention of the prevalent European Giants.

Gary Svindal wrote:Thank you Uniface for bringing up this topic. It was very instructive, especially considering elongated skulls have been found in many ancient places around the world - including North America. Large skeletons having elongated skulls have been unearthed from mounds and burial caves all over America, usually with enough trinkets to warrant royalty status. I've collected newspaper articles about these large people removed from bottom levels of mounds throughout a long life, but the internet puts them all out there. Despite all this evidence, these skulls end up in storage somewhere without explanation. But, there are many skulls filling many cabinets that are unexplained. The main purpose of science is to investigate the unexplained, not to explain the uninvestigated, said Jason Martell.

Currently reading "The Ancient Giants Who Ruled America" by Richard J. Dewhurst. A lot of smoking gun evidence, and he's not nice with the Smithsonian.

Thanks again for an excellent topic. Gary Svindal
I'm more in agreement with Colavito regarding Dewhurst and his "smoking gun evidence".

No one here mentions either "Mounds for the Dead" or the Andaste ("Susquehannock").

Nor "Man and Impact in the Americas".

Instead we get this back and forth about Europe, Europeans, and the Bible,
and a repackaging of Ross Hamilton's work on Hrdicka being presented as new research by the usual suspects.

I will note that in my opinion Andre Collins is very close to correct,
although I think that Lake Urmiah in Iran was likely the biblical "Eden", and not Lake Van in Turkey,
and that X mt DNA evolved along the shores of the Black Sea.

If you look at Collin's videos, they have also found a layer of impactites from the Holocene Start Impact Event in Syria.

I will also note that as the usual suspects can not get commercial control of either Andrew Collins or Graham Hancock's new books (the ones covering sea level rise after the Holocene Start Impact Event), we can expect knock offs from them.

As far as North American archaeology and archaeologists go, the Society for Historical Archaeology does not consider the Traditional Histories to be historical, even if they are verified by excavation.

And the First Peoples were illiterate.

When one's arguments are based on 19th century newspaper accounts, at a time when it is a well established fact that newspapers at that time actually competed with each other over the publication of captivating fictional story lines to attract readership, I believe the desperation is on the part of those who actually believe those fictional accounts. Also, mention was made of Nordic skeletons 8000+ years old from Catalina. Balderdash!! Absolute BS!! It helps to keep up with the latest DNA studies of the skeletons from Lake Baikal, Asia; Idaho, and Chile and cease repeating falsehoods from an author who couldn't get his facts straight because he doesn't want to get his facts straight. Just publish a book claiming a grand Smithsonian coverup that never existed in the real world we all live in. We live in the Age of Conspiracy Theories. Who killed Kennedy; who's spraying chem trails; the government's in league with ufonaughts; the New World Order is taking over; and the Smithsonian is orchestrating a great coverup of the truth about American history/prehistory. Utter nonsense!!
Yep, this is what happens when pop culture assumes the role of interpreting history's mysteries, the laws of science, etc. We get utter balderdash crap elevated for discussion. A discriminating intellect able to discern fact from fiction? Nah, we can check that at the door; it's of no useful benefit for enthusiasts. Enthusiasts have a deep aversion to using discrimination; maybe it makes their head ache, I dunno.....

Hi shawomet -

See my earlier post.

What you say about newspapers in the 1800's is true, but not always.
As a result, you have to take the articles one by one.

BTW, the "giant" gene sometimes expresses among modern Cherokee and Osage.

Also, Ross Hamilton had access to Vine DeLoria's and Pat Mason's last work

Obviously, you never saw Hrdicka's exhibit on the "Wendigo" in the Smithsonian in the 1950's.

Robert Owen, the early socialist, to a friend. He was a Quaker, hence he used the second person singular.

Links to videos of Andrew Collins new work at Gobekli Tepe, including the new finds, has been posted on Old World.

That includes the impactite layer from Syria, which is currently unerstood to be from the Holocene Start Impact Event.

But there were other later impacts in the area, so this dating will have to be checked, as well as a search made for nearby craters.

Hello Shawomet. You were correct to bust my rant, as I am far behind events. I've been fighting off the Grim Reaper for awhile, and have lost track of current events. Trying to update, and found this article http://westerndigs.org/earliest-evidenc ... -skeleton/, which answers the question about the double teeth. The word is Gigantism, or specifically Acromegaly. Thank you. . . . . Gary Svindal

Yes, uni, just because I'm paranoid does not mean there isn't somebody watching me. However, I was speaking about the spirit or zeitgeist of our era, as it were. You know, scholars call the 18th century the Age of Enlightenment. Well, I just like to call our present era the Age of Conspiracy Theories. It seems to have begun with the JFK assassination, but now includes things like we never went to the moon, the New World Order is taking over, chentrails are a deliberate depopulation program, and I could go on and on. The History Network has applied the formula to both world and American history; America Unearthed, for instance, has begun to hinge on the belief the Smithsonian is actively hiding the truth.

While waiting for that Texas Geneticist to conclude his comprehensive Paracas DNA screening, here are some conehead hair styles for your amusement.
