2015 ARCE-NC Marie Buttery Memorial Grant
The Board of Directors of the Northern California Chapter of the American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE) is offering one grant of $500 to a qualified student. The cutoff date is December 31st, 2015, with the grant to be awarded at our January 10, 2016 lecture.
To qualify for this grant, applicants must be enrolled at a Northern California college or university (Monterey to the Northern California Border). Applicants must be pursuing a degree that incorporates Egyptian anthropology, archaeology, art, history, museum studies, language, or Coptic or Arabic studies in any period. Proof of enrollment may be required before the grant is presented.
Applicants are to give us a brief summary of how they will use the grant. The grant will be awarded based on merit. In case of any tie, the winner will be determined by a random drawing from the qualified applicants.
Students can apply by email (Word or text file) to arce-nc@comcast.net <mailto:arce-nc@comcast.net> or by mail to ARCE-NC, 439 Buena Vista Avenue, Redwood City, CA 94061.
The winner will be expected to attend the January lecture, if possible, to accept the grant in person.

That's a nice gesture.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

Are there a lot of students going into Egyptology right now or has the political instability there turned them off?

Sorry, no idea. You might find out more by emailing development@arce.org. That's the development director for the headquarters of the American Research Center in Egypt.
