LUXOR, Egypt - Archeologists on Wednesday fully unveiled the first tomb discovered in Egypt's Valley of the Kings in over 80 years, and cracked open the last of seven sarcophagi inside to reveal embalming materials and jewelry.
Zahi Hawass, who heads the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities, said he believed the new tomb could have belonged to King Tutenkhamen's mother. Closely related Egyptian royals tended to be buried near each other, and graves of the rest of Tut's family have already been found, he said
Oh, well...looks like they excavated someone's workshop.

It's still an important find. There was a Discovery channel show on it last week. They may even determine who the sarcophagi were intended for. Lots to learn yet.

There are no unimportant finds.....there's an article on digging through Jerusalem's garbage dump and the archaeologists are like pigs in shit...
which is probably a bad analogy for Jerusalem but WTH.

I wonder what they'll make of a Burger King Crown?
Probably declare the whole site to be a ritual center.

Yep. They'll probably think we were pretty primitive. But then they'll find the trash on the moon!
Then it becomes obvious - we were visited by ancient astronauts.

It may seem trivial to us, but any discovery that old is bound to give scientists some kind of information. If not about a particular person, at least the culture of the times.
Hope they make follow-up special.

Discovery channel has the look inside the sarcophagus tonight at 9 eastern. Right after that they have a show on the Sphinx origin. I don't know which origin is being presented - it depends on whether or not Zahi Hawass is in it.

I think that way back then, the mummies were removed and hidden somewhere safe, from what, i don't know, but they sure did a good job at protecting the mummies.
