Being new to the forum I realise this subject may already have been covered. Some months ago there was on British TV a programme entitled Stone Age Columbus. Did anybody watch it? What is latest on the subject?

Perhaps they'll show it over here eventually?

Did they discuss the stone structures in southeastern New Hampshire? I'm interested in learning more about that site. I missed out on going there last time I was up in that area. I was with 5 other people and we had 1 day to either go to Boston or to "America's Stonehenge". We took a vote and Boston won in a landslide.

As I commented earlier Min my computer seems to have developed a mind of its own this last few days. So here we go again.
The programme was devoted to a report in the States that DNA that was traceable to the Moustrian people, (correct spelling?) of southern France had been found in the DNA of certain Native American peoples on the Stateside eastern seaboard and pre dated Clovis by a very considerable time scale. Predictably the 'Club' were attempting to rubbish the findings but apparently they had been verified by a second lab. One expert who rather stupidly didn't contest the findings rubbished the idea on the basis that the crossing would have been impossible by primative peoples.
Firstly, I personally object to the assumption that our antecendents were less intelligent than us, and secondly, if the findings are accurate, then those who made the crossing obviously were not too worried as to whether a latter day expert believed it or not!

When you stated pre-columbian, I was going along the lines of a few thousand years. I didn't realize you were referring to 10's of thousands of years.

IMHO, if there is a Mousterian connection, it would have been in small numbers during the 2nd Ice Age. A time where coastlines between continents could possibly have been followed. Charlie or Min would know a lot more than I going this far back.

Hello I/O, welcome. If you've been a reader for some time, you're already caught up with the action.

There is a lot of interesting stuff going on right now, and as I just said in another thread, it's got my head buzzing a lot. I'm in a basic wait and see mode right now.

I've been reading the News for years just not the Forum. I'm still catching up. Charlie's work is fascinating and sparks jealousy. I wish I had something in my backyard.
