i suppose stating an opinion isn't worth much, but everybody can judge the value for themselves, so i'll state that i think modern europeans have considerable neanderthal dna, and that modern europeans made it to the new world in small numbers at least tens of thousands of years ago, so in that sense neanderthals made it to the new world long ago. many of us are present here in the new world today, of course.
as far as the new world population circa 1500 is concerned, i think all known races contributed to the mix over thousands of years. i'm sure small numbers of immigrants arrived from all points at various times, and interbreeding is inevitable between men and women of all types.

so the chances of anyone today having Neandertahl D.N.A. are non existent
and they have mapped neanderthal D.N.A. and it isn't present in ours
not even a little bit of it
i think you will eventually be in for a real surprise. the mapping is far from completed.

They certainly wouldn't find anything if they didn't complete the mapping process, would they?
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

Funny. I thought it was "curiousity" something seriously lacking in "the club."

The people doing the mapping project have neither asked for the support or involvement of the archaeology club. They are doing it for reasons of their own. Much like Oz in Bosnia, they are going ahead regardless of what you think.
Why are you so afraid they may find something? If they do, I think it opens up marvelous paths for learning. If they find nothing, then it appears that the earlier theory that there was no interbreeding would be correct.
Seems like a win-win to me.
