Best damn book on how science works in the real world
Yes it is, dammit.
Oh, the title? Sorry, forgot.

King Arthur's Round Table by Martin Biddle.
Why you ask? Simple. This was a multidisiplinary effort using experts in joinery, c14 dating, dendrochronology, art history, and some other things that slipped my mind. It is really a story of intellectual exploration.
Anyone else read it?

If you look at the length of the URL you will notice the width of this page coincides exactly with it.Doctor X wrote:Fix the fuggin' width. . . .

It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

No, but I would if I could find a copy as it does sound interesting. I cannot afford to spend $90.00 on a book at this juncture and my local library does not carry it. If anyone has a spare copy they are willing to send me, just let me knowAnyone else read it?

Damn! Did not know it was that expensive.
Then geteth Prof. Park's Voodoo Science and Martin Gardner's Fads and Fallacies in the Name of Science. Good starts on why one has to maintain objectivity. Park gives a great description as to why cold fusion could not have worked given the failure to produce certain products.

Thank you for the suggestions, my local library does have copies of both those books.
Of course, inquiring minds have to know and I love to read. Although I can't promise to stay awake if it bores me. (I've been trying to get through Finkelsteins book for months now Zzzz) Oops must have dropped off there. Will you read it?
