It seems likely that the Pyramids of Giza were not built by slaves but by paid laborers motivated by a faith in the divinity and immortality of their kings.

So could they have been public service projects, like all the dams and roads built during the depression? Too many people, not enough wars, gotta find something to keep everyone busy? Go ahead, shoot me down, at least we'll be talking about Giza in the Giza thread

The "public works" idea has been around, or was a long time ago. It doesn't seem to have any support anymore.

I've spent the last month looking at so much Giza stuff that I'm about blind, and for me - the mystery deepens.
