Dunno Marduk, I didn't read it. But hops in ale in England was actually illegal till the 15th C, and as I pointed out, in law their is a strict definition.
People use the word beer because they don't know the difference between ale and beer. If it ain't got hops it ain't beer.
95% of women in the UK call a vacuum cleaner a Hoover, that don't make them Hoovers, that is simply the result of a good marketing ploy. and the brewing iundustry define their ale and beers according to whether they have hops in them. Hopefully they know what they are talking about.

firstly we're not talking about english law
secondly we are talking about the thrid millenium bce
so you're about 4500 years too up to date to be laying this definition on Beer
by definition a beer is a drink brewed from cereals
it doesn't even need to have alcohol in it to be called beer
and it certainly doesnt need to have hops

You guys are all wrong ... that is not why beer was invented. Take a look at her and tell me how many beers it would take?

Now, I ask you: wouldn't you rather just invent a decent bag to put over her head? There's no hangover and it's reusable!
