Global warming.

Here's where you get off topic and off center....Keep it nice, keep it clean, no sniping, no flaming. After that, anything goes.

You had me worried there Beag, I though I was having another senior moment. The links you posted about the DD Vault and started me thinking(wrongly) about hurricanes.

Kerry Emanuel sparked a debate among his colleagues last year when he published a paper that linked global warming to the trend of increasingly stronger Atlantic Ocean hurricanes observed in recent decades.

In a study to be published soon, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology climatologist will make another bold claim: The cycling of hurricane activity from high to low, which some scientists have attributed to a natural cycle in global weather patterns, is in fact caused by the rise and fall of pollution released by humans.
Hi Digit, I went ahead and posted the link. It's a good article - the first time I've read it. I agree that it raises a lot of questions also.

And global warming sparks a lot of debate, everywhere. 8)

I think he's referring to air pollution.
Particles are removed from the air by rain, or by settling to the ground, or other ways I don't know about..

For example the amount of nuclear fallout particles peaked in about 1963-65, when atmospheric testing was stopped. Since then there has been a precipitous decline.

Monk after years of telling us that CFCs were destroying the ozone layer Europe, others as well, cut their usage. The Arctic ozone layer is reported as beginning to rebuild itslef and the loss off CFCs is now adding to GW!!
Bring on the ice age and the experts can then spend their time telling us that they knew that would happen all along.

Now this would be serious!

Imagine a world where Scandinavia produces wines to rival Italy's fabled Chianti region. It could come to just that by the end of the century, experts in Italy warn, if global warming continues unchecked.

A study by Florence University linking the effects of rain and temperature to wine production found that increasingly high temperatures and intense rains are likely to threaten the quality of Tuscan wines.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

I'm sure you saw the show on History channel about the Little Ice Age, and how due to a dramatic climate change most people who are of Northern European descent are now beer drinkers instead of wine, like me.

Could happen again. You may have to kiss your favorite label goodbye.

We drink wine socially but you wouldn't like anything in my wine rack, I'm sure. 8)

FM, you really didn't think the wine was for me, did you? I need a couple of bottles to lather up the brain cells on Beags' assistants prior to my interview!

I hope you are happy together!

For myself, give me a glass of chianti with a little Vivaldi in the background and the world is just fine.

From what I saw, if they did have any neurons, it might detract from the whole experience.

In southern England, the winter warmth set a new high, reaching 6.53C (43.8F), beating 6.49C (43.7F) in 1989-90.

All three winter months saw above average temperatures, and January also recorded its second highest UK-wide temperature, reaching 6.0C (43F).
