Hopefully I'll be the one with the match so it'll all be over for me before I know anything.rich wrote:Yeah but - this is the true scenario for THE END:
righ now there are over 6.6 billion people on the face of this earth and the number continues to grow. That means there are at least that many farts all happening in the course of 24 hours. One of these days the inevitability of everyone farting at the same time is going to happen and some schmuck is going to be standing there lighting a match - BOOM.
I'd hate to see the fireball comin'!

Iran has a lot of past history with other Islamic states, look up Suleiman the so call Magnificant to see what I mean.
Also during the cold war there were protaganists on both sides prepared to risk it. Curtis LeMay certainly was.
Also remember that the Iranian President is on the record as stating that distruction of this world is a pre requisite for Mohammed to return and create the new world.
At least the USA and USSR were not actually desiring the apocalypse.
The rhetoric that is put out for the masses is one thing, Dig. Reality is something else. India and Pakistan despise each other. Both have the bomb. They haven't used it. I frankly refuse to be drawn into any scenario created by a man like Bush. He has no credibility left on anything.
Oh, and there are quite a few Christians who expect "Jesus" back any day now to accomplish the same trick.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

The earth is only in this dimension, Rich.rich wrote:But then what good would psychopomps or whatever Ish talks about be then? There won't be anything but burnt stench in the universe where this good ol' mother earth once rolled!
Frankly, Bush could blow up the whole universe, and it wouldn't even make a ripple in the other dimensions. including the Realms of the Dead.
The only problem will occur when there are no psychopomps to carry the souls over, because they all were blown up too. Some souls will make it through anyway, and some will after a long while finally find their way to where they're meant to be.
BUt those who need psychopomps the most are those who die suddenly, with no warning. Those are the ones who often don't realise that they're dead, and so can get stuck for a long time, even centuries in earth time. If the balloon goes up, there's going to be an awful lot of those.

I don't know, Rich... I can't really joke about this.
I agree with Min that it could so easily happen. and although what I'm saying may sound like science fiction to you - something for you to make fun of - it's not.

As regards political credibility, the other day one of our newspapers stated that if Gordon Brown were to hold a single candidate election as in Zimbabwe, he would lose.
You chap isn't even playing in the same league!
One can add "yet" to just about any scenario one can envision, Dig.
The idea that London and New York may soon be underwater (in geologic terms) seems infinitely more pressing than what the Hindu and Moslem crazies may do on the sub-continent.
BTW, the only Socialist Senator we have, Bernie Sanders of Vermont, has introduced a bill for the government to subsidize (finally) solar panels on private homes. It's about time.

Well, perhaps because she knows that it is historically (or mythologically at least) accurate:Digit wrote:toptart Ish?

Surely Ishtar will rise."

Like I said Min, your chap isn't even in our lot's league!
Helping them do what?
Helping them recover makes sense. Helping them find new victims would be something else entirely.
Besides, all they have to do is become catholic priests and they could find all the victims they like, couldn't they?

Throughout most of human history young girls were gleefully turned over to older men in marriage contracts, Dig.
