About 1.7 million years ago, a leggy human ancestor, Homo erectus, began prowling the steamy swamps and uplands of Java. That much is known from the bones of more than 100 individuals dug up on the Indonesian island since 1891. But the culture of early "Java Man" has been a mystery: No artifacts older than 1 million years had been found--until now.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.
it is nice to know that you take what scientists and science magazines say without question , as if they are infallible. i do get laughter out of the fact that you say you are intelligent yet you cannot constructively criticize your own theory.
your only strength is that you need people to take you at your word wich is your greatest weakness because once someone starts questioning your conclusions, you can't defend your position. as has been proven by your avoidance of every question i have asked.
if your theory were true, then you could defend it without hiding, without personal attacks, without threats, without violence (smithsonian institute was good at this one), and they would not be offended because someone holds an alternative theory.
face it people you have nothing upon which to stand
Oh, I always question "scientists..." particularly when they are Creastionist Assholes who are desperate to keep their ethnocentric world view alive by shoving it down everyone else's throats....no matter how little sense it makes.
Real scientists, who put their work out for scrutiny by peers and are forced to defend their findings are okay in my book.
But these bible thumping phonies are something else. You know the type. And if you forget just look in a mirror.

wow! you said something that describes exactly what evolutionists are doing. at least creation provides the answers evolutionists can't find.

creation is out there to be scrutinized--go to the maternity wards, the animal hospitals, go to the vegetation nurseries, you will find ample proof and evidence you need to test and prove scriptures.
in fact the Bible even tells us to prove scripture so have at, be my guest
at least creation provides the answers evolutionists can't find.
Creation provides fantasy for the intellectually stunted.
creation is out there to be scrutinized
And when it is it is savaged by real scientists.

and another...
seriously, this argument has been going on for decades and the minimalists have always discounted the proof that support the Bible while building up insignificant contridictions . in other words they make mountains out of mole hills.
in my undergrad days we heard many of the arguments especially concerning source materials. problem was they couldn't really prove their point because they had the same documents as they evangelicals.
Some idiot in a pointy hat saying "God said it's true?"

From the Al Goodyear expedition at Topper. Even if the site suggests man in North America 40kya it would be really hard to believe that it was Neandertal. Interesting though...
Increasingly, the peopling of the Americas is looking like a more complex process than previously thought.
Indeed.

Neanderthal a bit far out, but homo in North America is very possible. Ice age reduction in sea levels made almost a strool to North America from Eu\rope. The Clovis points could not have looked exactly like the ones in Spain by chance. The seaboard eastern mountains probably have caves yet explored that have awesome discoveries waiting for us. Wish we lived in that area, would be out every weekend,.
Yes but 40,000 BC would put them here before they were fully across Europe.
That is hard to fathom.

Hate to put the cart before the horse, but what IF the site were dated to 40kya? The Topper site at that time would have been much farther inland. Especially to such an ancient people. They might have had to be colonized in N. America for quite some time before they found this site and were able to exploit it.
I'm hoping Goodyear will publish some findings a little later this year, but all we can do is wait.
Yeah but it is on a river bed. That's the logical communication route to follow.
You're right about the shoreline being much, much, lower though.
