This is a terrible answer, because I don't remember the

Name of the guy who figured it out.

Anyway, vertigo.

Inner ear stuff.

OK, theory and practise is

As you get older, certain crystals precipitate

Into the fluid in your inner ear which

Manages your balance.

This precipitation screws up your balance, big time.

So what you do is lie down reverse on your bed, face up,

i.e. your head is hanging down over the foot of your bed.

With your head hanging down, there,

You rotate it 45 degrees left

(and remember you have it already tilted as far back as it

will comfortably go)

and hang for a minute or two.

Then you rotate 45 degrees right and repeat operation.

In theory, this migrates the crystalline precipitates

Which are fucking up you middle ear

To somewhere else.

Worked for me.

But I'm not a doctor.

And this is not a doctor's advice.

So see if your doctor remembers the name of the guy

Which I don't remember,

And see if said procedure works for you.

Believe me Frank, if you had it, you'd know!
This from a fellow sufferer from another forum...

I too suffer from this. About 3 years ago I had an ear infection and dizzzy spell. After a few more my doctor referred me to ent clinic and they diagnosed. About every 6 months I get a week or so of headaches, full feeling in my right ear and dizzyness lasting a couple ofhours at a time.

As it happens I was at hospital today to be discharged, and am awaiting my appointment for a hearing aid fitting as I've lost all mid to low tone hearing in my right ear.

Mate it's a horrible disease, and I don't think ayone will really understand unless they are directly affected.

Mention of destroying hearing to stop the dizzyness being very drastic, well I've been in discusstion about this with the consultant. Until you experience how crippling the dizzyness is you won't understand. My attacks are so severe I can't stand and on one occasion it caused me to fall. I can do nothing but lay still for a few hours while the room literally spins. The slightest movement, even moving my eyes to look at something else causes me to be immediately sick.

Without exaggerating it really is that bad and I sympathise with anyone suffering with Menieres Disease.

I've had it for 48 yrs!
It can't work for me John, in my case both balance organs have been badly damaged.

I have had a little ear trouble lately, but nothing that bad. Sorry to hear you have it Dig. Sounds rotten.

It's a chronic condition but not continuous, I can go months, even years between attacks, so it probably sounds worse than it is.
