Many breeding populations would have to exist. Check out these maps of reported sitings: http://www.penn.freeservers.com/bigfootmaps/
Pretty cool map. But it helps support some of the problems with the idea of large two-legged mammals roaming around the continent; namely where are the bones? We've found no remains, and we've found no remains of any creature which could be ancient ancestors of this purported species. He seems to get around pretty well; has a huge, diverse habitat; reportedly exhibits intelligence; and yet defies detection by a qualified videographer that knows how to hold a camera steady and in focus. Its always the same guy who takes videos of the UFOs.

Possessed by gin, more likely.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

Your are not going to get professional investigation without funding.
And that sure will not be from public sources.
So you are looking at the need for an “eccentric” private rich guy.
And a “professional investigator” that is not afraid to lose any “standing” or good reputation he may have.

So we are stuck with “amateurs” without “standing.”

The only hope we have is the continually falling size and price of video equipment.

The only way to get an institutional investigation going would be for significant evidence to be turned up either accidentally or by amateurs. Such evidence would have to pass the inevitable "smell test." If a non-human primate bone showed up in a modern context that might do it.

That's what Lord Chelmsford said.

Naaah. That was the big evil dude of Zulu mythology.

But he's long gone.
While Tokeloshe is still very much peripatetic today.

If I've learnt anything, it's don't listen to the miserable f****** clogging up the internet who, if reading a post about someone intending to move to the US (that's just a random example pulled out of the top of my head) will dedicate many happy hours to typing out horror stories clearly illustrating why it's such a terrible idea that you shouldn't even bother. Now you tell me! Got a bill from the hospital for $29K. Four nights!

How old is the "youngest" Neanderthal that has been found? What if they didn't die out, but went "underground"? Suppose that they have been with us all along and in the millennia since the last fossil they have evolved into what we now call bigfoot? With warmer climates and more and better food sources they would have gotten bigger and smarter. Maybe the answer has been staring us in the face all along.
