Stone axe head
I have found a stone axe head in a river in Virginia. I was wondering if anyone could help me identify how old it might be and what its history might be.

I would be glad to help you out but first I need more info, preferably to see some good detailed pics of it from several different angles. Also, what is is made of...quartzite, greenstone, something else? Is it polished, pecked, or chipped? Pics would be best but the more info the better to help identify what you have found.
BTW, what river did you find it in? I live in Virginia and know quite a bit about the local (northern VA) prehistoric artifacts that can be found in the streams and rivers around here. I am really curious to see what you have found.

Why not show it to the archaeology department at the nearest university?
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

I found it in a small stream in the george washington national forest at a place called blue hole. The nearest town is called Cridders.

Hello David. If you have the pics on your computer you are half-way there. Now just go to photobucket.com and open an account. It's free. They will instruct you how to load your pics to their sight, and then to post them on message boards. When you load images to this site be sure to use the img button before and after you paste the HTML code. The instructions are pretty easy.
