This is a circus sideshow conducted by the PT Barnum of Boznia. I find it difficult to believe that there are any pros there.
hold it, i said that first and i own the copyrights--you owe me some royalties--ha.
amazing that the second picture is so out of focus that you can't get any detail. if you think that proves a pyramid-hahaha--you are wrong. look at the shape of the rock. it is not smooth nor is it in one contour like a pyramid wall would be especially if it were man made.
those are not stone blocks either nor are they fitted like a pyramid wall would be.
frank is right, what a mess and who in their right mind would let so many people corrupt a dig like this? information and recovery are the priorities not making a dig a disneylkand experience. if Os is short of funds, why isn't he charging all the tourists an entrance fee?
It is shame that there are no involvment from wider archeological comunity in Bosnia even Mr Osmanagich have asked them numerus times.
All this force and entusiasm can be usefuly used if there have been positive force throught.Even if there are no pyramid...this locations are of real prima importance for archeology. There are important reason for this.
f9, by now, everybody in Bosnia knows that the location (with the pyramids or without them) is on one of the most important, if not the most important archeological site in the country. There is no Bosnian who does not wish that those hills are real pyramids. The problem is that Os has still to prove this, but to prove it in a way that is scientifically accepted. We have not seen anything yet. Not even a proof that they are on the right track. What we see is a proof that Os is destroying the site.
Why don’t you try to contact him and work with him? You sound as a reasonable man. Why don’t you help him to put everything in an appropriate historical context? I don't want to be offensive, I am just asking.
By the way, dr. Barakat was on the national TV today. I have been told that he was optimistic about the final proofs. They could not thell me what he meant by that.
I agree with fortuneteller. I enjoyed your well-informed posts, F9.
THey were worth reading, in spite of your "accent."
It sounds as if you really understand what is going on.
BUt the politics (and ethnic rivalries) in your part of the world must be beyond the scope of Americans, for example, to understand.
I can only agree to the last posting.About time that science,be it archaeology ,steps out of it's ghetto .The situation in bosnia on a political scale is not suited for the kind of luxury diggings that would be accepted in an ideal surrounding .Please be aware of the context of the recent history .Suddenly those opposed to the digging claim that visoko is the most important site in bosnia and that Osmanavic is destroying it for ever .What are the arguments for this claim ?I havent heard any or at least they failed to convince me .It seems that the outcome of this dig is highely uncertain .A pyramid in Bosnia ?Small chance ,certainly not 12.000 years old ,that much is abolutely certain unless you are Eric von Daniken or Samir Osmanavic .But rejecting the whole thing on the basis of Osmanavic claims of its pretended age is not really logical because it does not reject the possibility alltogether of an artefarct . .He could be right on the existence and still be wrong on its age .
An example.PLate talks about Atlantis and claims it existed roughly 9000 years ago .It was destroyed by a major cataclysm. For me Atlantis is found already on Santorini ,it fits all the conditions EXCEPT for the age and of course all the claims of newage pseudoscientist and ufologist .
Which I am not let that be clear.
I just hope they dig up enough stuff to get Bosnia on the worldmap in a postive way, stimulate tourism and the local economy ,enough also for the scientific community to step in and take ove the dig to insure appropriate and responsible research .THere is really not much to be afraid of.
Thanks for feedback...
You allready know this.Osmanagic is not profesional, he can theorise with
whatever.Basicaly his theory is based on circumstantial discoveries and
personal experiences and some genetic conclusions from Semino etc.
He have money and suport. He have suport because of two main reason.
One is political-historical.In all Balcan states starting with Greece state meaning and suverenity is based on some meaningfull mitology. That is that national thinking wich have produced constant Balcan wars.State is based on mitology and Bosnia is contested state.Suport is comeing from people who are contested. They want to have bigger base for unity and suverenity of the state.Pyramid is in their hart in the most important mitological Bosnian city. There are hope for stronger and wider Bosnian identity. This way pyramid is usefull ,even there are no such thing... pyramid... will be something wich on the end will do the job.
Another reason is exclusivity of the name"pyramid" wich sound"great"
for public. If they have come out with some other name like fotress or antic cityes ...who will give support? This is problem with the values of our civilisation wich make pyramids to be fashionable think, sign for value.
Who know of the wider public for Çatalhöyük?Probably no one.But there are bilions who know about pyramids.I can give lot of examples for this
but this is obvious and clear.Bunch of stones are more important than probably this unown Çatalhöyük
So, it is useles to argue about personal experiences, political motives etc.
What is usefull I have allready done with person in charge,Osmanagic is more public figure. He have been tolerant and with open invitation for Bosnian archeologists.I urgue everyone to read his invitation for colaboration without pyramidal presure and dating.Big mistake is that archeologists have lost the point of their work-to exavate and to report findings clinging on the obstacles and reasons. On the end it will not be Osmanagic who will give archeological report of exavation accepted from archeological comunity. It will be archeolog.I doubt that anyone will give report in favour without conclusive evidence in favour of pyramid theory.
F9, I and I'm sure most of us here do wish you and the Boznian people luck. I see your point. It's easy for us to judge from a distance. we're not there in that political climate. For what it's worth, though, we've all heard fo Catalhoyuk, but probably most of the general public has not. Your explanation has cleared up a lot for me and I'm sure for some of the others as well.
Arch-
Apart from the stones being at a conflicting angle to the natural slope, and therefore not a man-made structure you mean
that and that they are just blocks in dirt. once they found some blocks , they stopped digging. normal people would dig a little more and see if there is a wall, or a foundation or a platform...etc.
here they come across rocks and go running off into town screaming they have found proof when all they have found is three rocks. there is no exploration to see what they have found.
You're making an assumption there. For all you know the cameraman could have said, "get out of the way while I take a picture", snapped it, and then they went on to find a plaque that says "Atlantis Department of Public Works."
What bugs me about most of these pictures is that there is no one in there to give it a sense of scale.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.
