But there is some mystery.
It is a strange mixture of coins.
Who would have been carrying it, why would they carry it, when and how did it get where it was?
Was it lost, or purposely deposited, or???

It's true we really can't say those coins had to have been lost together. Metal detecting on mudflats isn't likely to provide any real context. As someone told me recently, the English coin would in fact be a very rare score for a metal detector enthusiast even if found in England. It is not a common coin to find at all even in England. Can't rule the Drake party out, but can't bring it from suggestive to proof either, IMHO.....
