Well, he and Visoko Museum have right to invite anyone they wants. So far there are scientists from Egypt and Greece, soon to be expected more from Serbia Croatia and Slovenia and some other european countries. So again, what makes you think that any scientist can come here, just because it's his wish? Why they should be welcomed here, especially if they sneak around like Mr. Harding? You think the world is your playground and that you can do whatever you want? Well, you can't. At least not in Bosnia.
Do I gather then that foreigners aren't allowed there without permission and escorts? Because that is exactly what you are saying.
actually alex drifts off into these "i'm the king of the world" fantasies when his greatest contribution to archaeology will be fetching coffee for mr harding if he's extremely fortunate

Beagle wrote:When Dr. Schoch (see earlier post) refers to the manner in which "experts" dismiss amateur archaeologists there is a perfect example in this case.

I have heard it said that Dr. Hardings trip was only 15 min. That is too hard for me to believe. What I think everyone can agree on is that it was a token visit, as his mind was already made up.

If Dr. Schoch were to agree with Dr. Harding entirely, we can rest assured that it will be after a fair and comprehensive analysis. It is totally beyond me why the archaeological establishment wants to continually alienate the general public with such attitudes.
I totally agree, Harding came to Bosnia only to have press conference where he'll say his opinion, regardless on findings on the ground. If we put pyramid aside, there are stll many reasons to continue excavations.

And I believe that will get right answer from Mr. Schoch; as you say he's respected geologist. The fact that acheologists don't like him is that Mr.Schoch wasn't repeating their "party line" and wasn't slave of their Dogma. Same as Mr.barakat, who is also respected geologist - he said things they don't like to hear, and all of the sudden, he's not reliable.

I'm really looking forward to Mr.Schoch's oppinion.
It isn't a matter of archaeologists not liking him, it is a matter of other, working geologists disagreeing with him.

How many people there think Schoch teaches geology? He doesn't, he has been teaching maths and science at the College of General Studies at Boston University -- a non-degree awarding college. I'm not sure how you could call him a respected geologist. He doesn't teach geology, he doesn't have a lot of well-regarded publications in geological journals, etc.

You obviously don't agree with him Doug. You are part of a very large group. You're certainly entitled to that opinion.

You're characterization of him is not very flattering. But I don't think I need to list his credentials. They're easily checked out.

I see that you've been to his website(s). I encourage all members to see them. Just google Robert Schoch.

No, that is not what I said. Everybody can come as they wish, and look around as they wish, and to have their own conclusion as they wish.

I just said that Mr.Harding's visit was obviously private visit, othervise he would at least contact people from Visoko museum. So he came as private person, but gave official statement as president of European Association of Archeologists. And based of what? I never heard in my life that such high ranking scientists are making "secret" trips and doing evaluation based on 15 minutes tourist tour.

How exactly do you work that one out? Those photos are about as revealing as the ones from Bosnia-except here they were taken AFTER archaeological surveys with real archaeologists.
For you archaeologists Silvana Cobanov, mr. Lamija El Hadidy and Nancy Gallou are ghost archaeologists they are not real archaeologists or something else.

mr harding went as a professional to a specific area investigated by your team. your team stated results for that specific spot and thererfore mr harding could be very specific in his sampling of the site.

you all said that it was this, mr harding, speaking about the exact same spot said it was that. end of story.

mr harding cannot be blamed for not wanting to be obvious because that would lead to a photograph which in turn would be lied about.

So where is your archaeological evidence for the preposterous claims you keep making about Visoko? All you "true believers" seem capable of is repeating biased claims from Osmanagich's own website.

There you go again. How do you KNOW he was only there for 15 minutes? You keep being repeatedly asked to provide proof of that, and ignoring the requests.

Oh no Zagor, everybody who isn't repeating their "party line" is not proper archeologists. They are all fakes for them. And they are "real" archeologists.

So tell me: Mr. Harding gave his assesment of Visocica site based on what? Please tell me that. From his brief and partial (his words) visit published in the news, I really can't see how he could make any serious assesment, exept that he came just to say his private opinion about whole thing, formed before his trip to Bosnia. Tell me: he made an assesment of that site based on what?

This is wrong.
Nancy Gallou:
http://www.travellerspoint.com/member_p ... er=nancygr
which says she is 24 and has her own bio:
Citizenship: Greece
Marital Status: Single
Occupation: Archaeologist
Hobbies:
Ethnology,Botanology,Archaeology,Active Volunteerism,Writing articles,Excavations, photography, cooking, learning new things,Caving,Capoeira, mountainbike, hiking and rock climbing.,riding my bike, beachvolleyball,Swimming, dance, singing in the bathroom.I also enjoy watching Soccer!

So, not much experience but a real person, also to be found at:
http://www.mapuche-nation.org/english/about.htm

But that doesn't prove she is working there, remember the claims about Royce Richards, Grace Fegan, Chris Mundigler, etc.

Lamia el-Hadidi is not a 'Mr', she's a she, and is really there. Here's her background:
http://www.thebanmappingproject.com/about/staff_22.html

I'm sure Silvana Cobanov is also there as I've seen a photo of her working there. She is another young archaeologist with a Degree in Archaeology from the University of Zadar.

So the 3 are real, but 2 are young and unexperienced, the 3rd is experienced and respected even if in a different field of archaeology.[/code]

Well thank you very much Doug. After pages and pages of this thread we finnaly agreed that there are real archeologists there.

Define " brief and partial"? If you can't then, stop making stupid comments like this-

"However, Harding, who said he visited the site briefly on Thursday and looked at the same stone blocks Barakat said were man made, said on Friday they were a natural formation."

"Harding did not visit other sites in the area which Osmanagic and Barakat say are further evidence of the existence of pyramids in Bosnia, such as a tunnel leading to the top of Visocica or a stone pavement made of geometrically regular shaped pieces."

"Harding said that although he had not seen the stone pavement, by looking at photographs, "I would not believe it to be archaeological. It looks to me as a natural stone pavement." He did not visit the tunnel either."

There it is, black on white. About the whole adventure, please read here:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060610/ap_ ... ontroversy

So please could anyone tell us based on what Mr.Harding gave his assesment of the Visocica site?

C'mon RK, I did my bit. His visit was abviously "brief" and "partial"; you are proffessional archeologist. You must know magic tricks of the trade: how to make proffesional assesment during brief and partial visit to archeological site.
