Seems to me that if you want to settle new lands and establish families and such, you need the help of everyone in the band, that includes women. If you look at the history of this country, you would see that women often worked alongside their men, especially in setteling the west. Them pioneer wimen were sumtin else. My own g-g-grandmother was one of the first white women in the Northwest Territory of Canada.

I'll try this again since it didn't go through last night.
It seems that if you want to settle in a new area, it would be to the benefit of the entire band (clan, tribe or whatever you want to call it) to have all able bodies work at it, that includes women and older children. Just look at the history of this country, which is really young in comparison, women were very important in the developing and setteling. Look at the pioneer women and what they did, they were truly awesome. I think we all have some female ancestors that would fall in this category. I know I do.
