Indeed! The Romans were
the original fascists! The example Hitler c.s. intended to emulate with his "thousand year Reich".

As with so much else, the fasces were adopted from the Etruscans.
The fasces lictoriae ("bundles of the lictors") symbolised power and authority (imperium) in ancient Rome. A corps of apparitores (subordinate officials) called 'lictors' each carried fasces as a sort of staff of office before a magistrate, in a number corresponding to his rank, in public ceremonies and inspections. Bearers of fasces preceded consuls (and proconsuls), praetors (and propraetors) and dictators. During triumphs (public celebrations held in Rome after a military conquest) heroic soldiers — those who had suffered injury in battle — carried fasces in procession.
Roman historians recalled that twelve lictors had ceremoniously accompanied the Etruscan kings of Rome in the distant past, and sought to account for the number and to provide etymologies for the name lictor.
Believed to date from Etruscan times, the symbolism of the fasces at one level suggested strength through unity. The bundle of rods bound together symbolizes the strength which a single rod lacks. The axe symbolized the state's power and authority. The ribbons binding the rods together symbolized the state's obligation to exercise restraint in the exercising of that power. The highest magistrates would have their lictors untie these ribbons as a warning if approaching the limits of restraint.

Reality can be boring.
(It's why so many seek the surreal.)

And keeps the conspiracy money rolling in Min.
It is said in the publication busines that 'if you can't write, become a publisher, if you can't become a publisher become an agent, if you can't become an agent, then God help you!'
I would add, 'write conspiracy theories!'
Roy.

Only the "thousand year Reich" was not a secret conspiracy. It was a very real, very public promise that Hitler made to the "Aryans" in Germany. And an unconceiled threat to the non-Aryans in Germany and the rest of the world. February 27, 1933:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGhdX1SI3KY (I have to admit that it helps if you speak German...

)
Only nobody in the rest of the world was listening. But the Germans ate it. That time. Your fellow nationals, or mine, can fall just as easily for such ploys. It's not specifically German. It's in all of us.
Nothing has changed. The signs are all over the place. But nobody pays any attention.
Obama is a gifted orator for which millions fell. But as a president he stinks. He is a weakling desperately hanging on to his messianic image while IRL actively continuing and actually
expanding Dubya's policies. He's never yet delivered on his campaign promises. After 18 months in office the national debt is still rising, and faster than ever before. The dollar is gasping for air, near collapse. The oil spill is an open ended nightmare he has no handle on. He didn't bring 100,000 soldiers home from Iraq, but he sent 'm to Afghanistan instead! He didn't get the national health bill (or whatever it's called) voted in. Guantanamo is still open. War criminals are still free and unencumbered in the USA as Obama's administration still has not ratified the International Criminal Court/Cour Pénale Internationale, (ICC/CPI for short). The whales are still killed. Etc. etc.
Consequently Obama will lose his re-election.
Palin may be the next puppet residing at 1600, Penn Ave.
An exponential Dubya.
That's the
real 2012 armageddon!
Luckily there are pleasant diversions like the Olympic Games, the World Series, the World Championship Soccer, the Tour de France, Jay Leno, and Paris Hilton etc. etc., to keep the focus of the masses firmly averted from what
is important. The magic spell? "Keep your eye on the ball"!
Works everytime.
But fear not my friends! Min and I have a handle on the situation: we have the Palin sextapes, after all!

I would be the last to imply that it was, I was thinking about Min's post,

Quite what Obama could do about a deep sea oil leak though I'm not sure.

For starters he could stop us being fed large-scale BS on the situation. Like today: BP has a 'new plan' whereby they will let the well spout unhindered for days (read "weeks") while they drill 2 other holes in the same oil source, which are supposed to ease the pressure on the rogue well so that it can be capped. Sounds like a plan, doesn't it? Seems logical.
But hey! Wait a minute! isn't that
exactly the same "plan" the world was told about 3 days after the platform collapsed and the well started spouting? And now it's being sold to us
again as a "
new plan"?
And Obama lets it happen.
They must think I'm stupid. Problem is, the masses are.

Hitler's March 28, 1933 speech ordering a boycott against Jewish stores and goods was in direct response to the declaration of war on Germany by the worldwide Jewish leadership.

The "worldwide Jewish leadership" had read Mein Kampf. And were vindicated about 6 million times.

Not while FOX News is around he can't. Would you prefer Obama tell us that everything is fine and he is sure that BP has it all under control?
Remember, the Republicans want him to apologize to BP!

Code: Select all
declaration of war on Germany by the worldwide Jewish leadership.
So the invasion of Poland didn't come into it then? I don't recall the Russian 'Jewish' leadership declaring war on them, nor the Danes, do you?
Roy.
