Upheavals in the Third Millenium BCE

I read these posts this morning before entering hospital where I have been diagnosed with an aggressive cancer of the prostate, and Min, the growth of plants in Spring is still magical to me.
I still see the world as Jesus said, 'through the eyes of a child', and despite a scientific background I find the concept of the 'blind watch maker' difficult to accept.

but the point that many of them make is there are significant gaps in ToE as well. There are plenty of theories. Everyone has theories but there are few observations or experiments which confirm them.
In an earlier statement, Min, you said the 'lies' of the creationists made you question their motives. I am curious what you think their motives are. Control the world? Convert you to Christianity? Convert you grandchildren to christianity? Point out some flaws in the accepted paradigms?
ON the first point, MOnk, I agree. The difference is that science continues to look for answers. They don't punt by saying: "We're stumped....'god' must have done the rest."
As to motives? I'd answer "All of the above." I'd also add in that these are people with a vested financial interest in keeping the sheep in line and getting them to continue to pay up.
As for the flaws? A lot of their so-called flaws are straw man arguments in the first place.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

Terrible news, Digit. Are they going to operate?

But like I said, the world is a magical place and if this it it's been great!
Don't think like that. They have made great strides in treating cancer in recent years. I'm not a great fan of doctors but at a time like this you just have to let them do their thing and follow orders.

Absolutely! I'm not a fan of that 'Jedi' class either, but they do provide your best odds.Minimalist wrote:

I have been written off once before by the medicos so I refuse to be too down hearted and thank you all again.
