Tiwanku analogue?

Post by woodrabbit »

On a recent visit to Montreal encountered a book on a site in southern Yemen of significant iconic architecture that reminded me of my visit to Tiwanuku....

ie....sunken terrace with vertical obelisk(s) surrounded by a low retaining wall
embedded with stones with sculptural frontal facial portraits...each seemingly distinct and unique as seen similarly in Tiwanuku.

Unfortunately the text was in French which told the left side of my brain ..uh...uh....

Anyone else noticed a pattern of similar lithic ritual singularity/simularity?
Its more complicated than it seems.
