Hello, my name is CShark and I am an addict. It's been three weeks and two days since I last ordered books from Amazon.com (insert clapping). I hope to make it a full month this time.
Problem is, it's soooo easy. Just click at all the shiny books, and they magically appear in my mailbox a week or so later. Have to build another bookshelf soon, as they are beginning to spill over onto the floor. I end up reading two or three at the same time, well, not at the exact time, but you get my drift...Roman Britain, Stonehenge, Elizabeth I, Britain A.D, you name it, I've got a copy
Anyone else care to admit they suffer from this financially disabilitating syndrome ?
Hmmm. Me too, and having just moved from a much more expensive place where I could barely afford rent let alone books, I haven't ordered anything from Amazon in a while - up until last week when I broke my fast and hammered them for a stack of science-fiction paperbacks which is probably going to be about four foot tall once they all turn up.
God I love Amazon.
And having money again.
I love Amazon because I can never find anything in book stores. I go in for one thing....something else catches my eye....and I forget why I went there in the first place.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.
amazon takes to long for me,
I forget that I ordered anything by the time that they arrive.
so I just end up reading the internet, it is sad that I don't think that I will ever read the entire internet, but I am trying.
has anyone here made a list of recommended archaeological books on amazon ?
if so I would like the link.
the last book that I read was on the mass extinction that happened before the dinosaurs, it was very entertaining, I want more like that one, I ordered his newest book "under a green sky" http://www.amazon.com/Under-Green-Sky-W ... culturf-20, but it is not here yet.

how do you deal with the wait time ?
Funny, I usually order from amazon dot com, even though I am Canadian, and have no problem with the wait times. For some reason the Canadian site (amazon.ca) charges more for most books, even though our buck is pretty much on par with yours. I placed my last order in mid-march and received four books in less than two weeks.
As for archeology or history stuff, that is pretty much all I buy! There is quite a bit actually, just do a search on the topic of choice and voila.
Like I said, waaaaaay too easy!
It's true. There's a few books I honestly never thought I'd see (academic facsimile editions of Mexican codices published early 70s by various universities) which I now have thanks to Amazon - some of them are hundreds of pounds admittedly but I got the volumes I was specifically after for about thirty quid each. Pretty damn amazing really.
Found this company when I was looking to purchase 'The Complete Stonehenge' www.betterworld.com
I've placed an order for it, plus another book called (suprisingly) Stonehenge, by John North. Both are used, and cost me $20.50, including shipping ! If interested, I'll let you know how they stack up against amazon.
