Last FM

Here's where you get off topic and off center....Keep it nice, keep it clean, no sniping, no flaming. After that, anything goes.

Last FM

Post by Ishtar »

I've discovered something really brilliant. By signing up to this website called LastFM, you can upload the contents of your iTunes player to your LastFM library and then email all your friends with a link so they can listen to all your music.

http://www.last.fm/about

It's a great way to get access to ... well, in my case, you'd get 1466 new pieces of music over 4.7 days playing time without having to lay out a penny.

There's a wide and eclectic mix of tracks ranging from classical to jazz and folk to choral works, rhythm and blues and rock' n roll to whatever else they call genres these days ..from Dame Janet Baker to Jimi Hendrix, from Bob Dylan to Berlioz, John Mayer to John Coltrane, the Rolling Stones to Rachmaninov, Donovan to Domineco Scarlatti, Mahler to Mantra Yoga and Ravi Shankar to the Ronettes - and possibly even Japanese surf garage if I knew what that meant. Everything except rap - sorry War Arrow!

So if you would like to receive a link to my Last FM library, please PM me with your email address. You'd be very welcome! :D

Hmph. :x

Seriously though, I only actually managed to download my first ever bit of music three days ago (an album by I'm So Hollow (long story) that I know I'll never find on vinyl, so it was a last resort thing) so, as you might guess, I have certain luddite tendencies when it comes to iPods and the like.

So the Norweigian folk singer WAS one of your's?
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

Yes, Norwegian jazz singer, Min - Sidsel Endresen. Her music is quite hard to describe, though ... it must cross several genres.

War, you don't have to upload or download any music. You just click on the link and it takes you to my home page on Last.FM and the music is already playing. So all you have you to do is make sure your speakers are switched on. Even you could manage that! :D

The other great thing about it is, if you set up an account with them (free of charge) and then upload all your music, you can also add others' music on Last FM to your Last FM library and listen to it too.

I actually had no trouble coming up with a word to describe it.

:D

Min,

If I didn’t have such wide tastes in music, and your own were not so narrow and fixed ...

And if I lived in Arizona, or you lived in the UK ...

And if I wasn’t so impossible to live with, and you weren’t so happily married ...

And if I was ten years younger, and you were ten years younger ...

And if I was 10 lbs lighter, and you were 10 lbs lighter ...

And if I wasn’t so into spirituality, or if you didn't so despise spirituality ...

And if I didn’t love going to India, or if you didn’t hate the very idea of it ...

Well, it might be a completely different story between you and me! :D

Why do we both have to lose 10 lbs?

Can't we sort of cancel out?

Well, it's because of the size of our respective stomachs - that's another thing that would keep us apart, unless we grew longer arms of course!

You've obviously been studying this mythology so long that you have forgotten to check out the Egyptian god Min.

Yes, I do know about him. The first Victorian Egyptologists, on discovering his statue, were so offended that they chopped it off.

Probably jealous!
