I support the hypothesis that Phoenicians/Carthaginians maintained regular global trans-oceanic trade routes, and even permanent trading posts, from around 1,800 BC to 146 BC, when Scipio, in blissful ignorance, razed Carthage to the ground, and whatever physical knowledge (books, maps, manuals) of far lands and global navigation there was with it.

Ancient Egyptian artifacts in Virginia fit in that scenario.
