That article's reasoning is apples and oranges imo, Michelle.

Dogs are pack animals, following their leader blindly. Unquestioning. Bold.
Cats are independently thinking individuals making their own decisions. Cautiously.

Different evolutionary paths/approaches. But about equally successful sofar, I would say. Hardly comparable, though.

I know that those who do not keep dogs think we dog lovers are soft in the head Min, and they may well be right. but they are not dogs as such, they are members of your family, and it's bloody hard!

They do grow on you. As I type this mine is laying 3 inches from my chair in her normal position and has no problem with making me step over or around her to get up.

After a particularly tragic dog rescue a couple of weeks ago I decided that when she goes I'll get another one right away. The house would seem terribly empty without her.

My wife says not again Min!
But we say this each time, my father always had dogs and my wife and I had one as a wedding present, since when we have never been without a couple.
Life without a dog or two would seem mighty strange now.
