What is the purpose of this board?
Is archaeologica.org....
1 - A discussion group for archaeology?
2 - A discussion group for christian fundamentalism?
3 - A discussion group for selling crackpot theory books?
I can't tell right now. The agenda seems to be dictated and repeatedly perveted by two people pushing items 2 and 3 on the list. If we start off talking about archaeolgy, we end up talking about the bible. Every - damned - time.
I just signed on and all I see is time wasting crap.
Mods, can you do nothing about this?

My karma ran over my dogma.
There are many more darwinite fundies on this board than advocates of alternative theories about ancient history, so your problem, oas, is that you often don't have rational responses to my comments and queries, so you clam up, to avoid looking foolish.
If what I say makes supposedly no sense, then why doesn't it just roll off you like water off a duck's back? But it doesn't, does it, now why is that oas?

OAS your feeble attempt to control the board is again pointing fingers the wrong way. i stick to those subjects that are biblical in nature and rarely venture a religious thought inthose forums that are not related to the subject i deal in.I can't tell right now. The agenda seems to be dictated and repeatedly perveted by two people pushing items 2 and 3 on the list. If we start off talking about archaeolgy, we end up talking about the bible. most of the time, well probably the majority of the time, i am not the one who opens the door for religion to be brought in. that responsibility falls upon minimalist as he can't resist taking potshots at what he hates the most.
your attempt to manipulate the reality demonstrates your inability to be cognitive of the facts and fail to realize that your own posts lack substance or content that are interesting let alone informative.
the problem with you and Frankis, that you don't realize that other people have learned what you are talking about and that you are not the only ones who have studied the field.
someof us have moved on tot the deeper portions of the field toaccess knowledge that is not covered in repeating archaeology 101. you see, students need to learn that they are not the only ones who have studied the material and those of us who have broadened ourselves beyond basic knowledge know that we do not have to mention the obvious to get our point across.
so here is a lesson for all you secular people who only want sanitized chat boards:
GROW UP the world isn't moderated and if you can't handle different perspectives here then you won't make it in the real world. stop acting like a spoiled 2 year old.

oas -
pre clovis, my favorite focus, is on the board.
and i'll participate to the length and breadth of what i've learned
on other, archeological, subjects.
i, too, have had it
with certain posters polishing the biblical turd ad nauseam.
the solution is simple.
stick to the subject. archaeology.
if its off subject, no response necessary.
agreed, brethren and sisteren?

GV - You are right - you are the only one droning on ad nauseum about rubbish that quite honestly most of us laugh at you over (PM is a wonderful thing for sharing thoughts privately).
Yet by yourself you manage to de-rail any intellegent discussion about archaeology, a topic which you obviously have not been formally trained in. I've been away all day, I sign on and it's all you, and it's all garbage. You're even answering yourself (something I haven't been doing lately, and won't after this post - I encourage everyone else to do the same.)
People - please. Logic, facts, evidence - none of it works with this special kind of loonie. If we had an ignore function I would gladly use it. Instead just ignore him of your own volition. He'll crow about how nobody can answer his questions because we're all so dumb. Big deal. It's the spotlight they are after. Deny it to them. Maybe we can get a discussion in about archaeology sometime. The real thing, that is.......
BTW - googling your real name and "Genesis Veracity" was very illuminating.... lol....
Rant off.

John and OAS,
I think what you have both suggested is the way to go. I hope everyone else will follow your suggestions. I would actually love to read what the two of you and others that are discussing archaeology subjects have to say. It is interesting to me to get everyone's ideas and opinions of the various topics. I am sure there are a lot of people who read these posts that would actually like to read opinions and facts covering the subject at hand rather than be subjected to endless debates about the validity of the Bible. WE DON'T CARE, we would be on the Bible Boards if we gave a rats ass.

the purpose of this board is to discuss archaeology and michelle has allowed people from different perspectives to post here.I think what you have both suggested is the way to go. I hope everyone else will follow your suggestions
a decision she should be lauded for as she is not interested in having a boring, rubber stamped, pat each other on the back discussion. she encourages education not brainwashing or propaganda.
one thing that the posters on this site forget, they don't own the place Michelle does and it is her right to set the rules and say who gets to or doesn't get to post here. no one else has the right to pressure her or demand that some be removed because they do not like the message a person brings with them.
sure some can complain, but the better option is to deal with it by responding constructively with quality posts and not resort to the gutter for a defense of one's position.
one thing that is obvious here is the 'The Club' mentality adhered to by a few of the 'scientific' members and they feel their role is to control what content is allowed to be posted in this forum. something beyond their authority and right. Their tactic is not one of open-mindedness or for the value of discussion but one of being 'the bully' and stomping people into submission discouraging participation unless the poster only places on the board material meeting their acceptibility criteria.
then there are a group that think they are 'scientific' yet when ever their opinions and theories are questioned or challenged they run and hide behind the mantra,'this is science board', refusing to post concise, quality posts opting for the more usual tirades of, 'you don't understand...' or to personal insults and so on.
their avoidance is blatant as they feel everyone must take their word for it and blindly accept their point of view while making unrealistiv demands on the dissenters to their beliefs. that attitude is a joke.
then there are the majority of those members, who by their actions and words ,demonstrate that they advocate CENSORSHIP as they strive to limit the perspectives allowed on this board. only their accepted points of view are allowed to be discussed and if someone goes contrary to that endeavor then these same people throw hissy fits, refuse to post or have protests to unfairly pressure michelle into doing what they want and not what she wants. it is her website after all.
very childish and immature plus it makes you all look like spoiled 2 year olds not worthy of any respect, consideration or engagement.
i am leaving this board on God's terms and no one has chased me away, asked me to leave or made it so unbearable that i could not remain. i have said most of what i needed to say and it is time i depart for there really is no hope of having a good discussion here because of the aforementioned members. {the new moderator doesn't alleviate things but adds to the problems encountered in this forum}.
so i will probably be gone earlier than i said as i do not see things changing for the better as some are imposing their agenda and not michelle's.
you should be congratulating michelle for having a board free of the problems that exist on other sites and for allowing all perspectives to be discussed here {trolls are another matter of course}
by the way, the posters i see as trolls are: G.V., John, Marduk, O.A.S., Doctor X as they have not done one thing to make this board a better place to seriously discuss all aspects of archaeology.
i will be reading from time to time as i always need links and information but don't look for me to participate as i am taking a long break while i work on my paper and other research.

Au revoir.
Toodle-loo.
Ciao.
Auf wiedersehn.
Dos Vidanya.
Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.
