since minimalist complains about my using outdated books, i have been reading one on the exodus that was published in 2003 written by a cambridge scientist that examines the evidence for the exodus froma scientists point of view.
as usual i will post some quotes as food for thought and discussion, trying to keep it closer to context but it is really the quotes and what they are saying that i am interested in getting comments about.

because nobody agrees with anything you say because you are a religious crackpoti have never asked for anyone to be banned no matter how crazy or abusive they get.
laughable."there is no evidence archaeologically to support such existence at such a time."
my comment came from a respected source
it is the orthodox theory Arch, can you read some real books instead of religious pamphlets or is that too damaging to your personal beliefwhy because i question the longevity of your theory of a long civilization history?
the only people who show any ridiculousness and bigotry are those like you, tj and a few others who cannot stand to be challenged or face those who believe differently than you.
people like me and Tj are not responsible for the deaths of in excess of 500,000,000 innocent men women and children worldwide enforcing our personal beliefs. Quite frankly your belief in a a god of the deluge is an anachronism that makes you think you should emulate that.
and it is sickening to have to hear you going on about the greater glory of a psycopathic deity
I'm going to stay here and make your life a misery instead christianso if you do not like it why don't you go backto where you came from
just for fun
archaeologist wrote:why because i question the longevity of your theory of a long civilization history?i think i'm going to start a new thread if you carry on like this Arch
it will be a petition for your permanent banning
i could say the exact same thing for you here and your proposed actions will demonstrate how much lessof a person you are as i have never asked for anyone to be banned no matter how crazy or abusive they get.you are a waste of space for anyone who posts here
you have nothing to add but your bigotry
i amnot being ridiculous and my comment came from a respected source whichi did neglect to mention for obvious reasons.one more ridiculous faith based outburst from you

i and those that agree with me have the right to believe what we want and the last time i looked, you did not own this website so if you do not like it why don't you go backto where you came from, at least i stay within the rules and post my opinions with as many facts if not more than you
sounds like someone has their undergarments twisted around a particularly intimate piece of their anatomy, with predictable results.

sure Archsince minimalist complains about my using outdated books, i have been reading one on the exodus that was published in 2003 written by a cambridge scientist that examines the evidence for the exodus froma scientists point of view.
once again you've nailed it
you're reading a book about the Exodus written by Physicist, Colin Humphreys
couldn't you find one written by a professor of ancient history
wonder why that is eh
next week no doubt you are having a brain operation performed by a garage mechanic
oh you do know that Colin Humphreys is a committed Baptist who believes in the story of Moses don't you
that means he started with a theory and then came up with facts to support it
http://www.guardian.co.uk/life/feature/ ... 72,00.html
thats not very scientific at all is it
no doubt any quote you will post will be coloured by his and your agenda based on your erroneous personal belief
so don't bother
why don't you stick the book up your ass instead
its a better place for it

Arch thinks that by trying to hide the identity of his "authors" that he will prevent my figuring out what he is talking about.
BWAHAHAHAHA!
Seriously, arch, before you even bother, Humphrey's is a scientist who is trying to come up with "scientific explanations" for bible bullshit. As such, you will want no part of him, either. From a review:
No angry deities telling poor old Moses to take his shoes off, just a volcanic vent that poor old deluded Moses (probably being senile due to advanced age) thought was 'god' talking to him.
Figuring out ad hoc scientific answers for this nonsense does not alter the fact that there still remains NO EVIDENCE that the Israelites were ever held captive in Egypt. It does not sound as if Humphreys even considered that.

Colin Humphreys, a world-renowned Cambridge University scientist, reveals for the first time the concrete, scientific truth behind the Exodus miracles.
The Burning Bush: Caused by a volcanic vent that opened up under the bush.
Crossing the Red Sea: The water was pushed back by a very strong wind blowing all night. This is a known physical phenomenon called wind setdown. The details given in the Bible mean we can pinpoint where the Red Sea crossing occurred.
Drowning Pharaoh's Army: When the very strong wind suddenly stopped blowing, the water rushed back in the form of a rapidly returning "bore" wave, sweeping Pharaoh's army into the sea.
Mount Sinai: The real Mount Sinai is in present-day Saudi Arabia, not the Sinai Desert as is generally assumed.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

sorry i could care less if you figure it out, i probably said too much but you know it doesn't matter, as he gives some good explanantions while others make him look like a elementery school student.Arch thinks that by trying to hide the identity of his "authors" that he will prevent my figuring out what he is talking about.
i knew whathe wastrying to do when i bought the book, though youwould be happy with him as he reduces the number of israelites at the beginning of the exodus from 600,000 approx. to about 55,000 via a serious of mathmatical equations he refuses to identify except to say to read itin a published article.Seriously, arch, before you even bother, Humphrey's is a scientist who is trying to come up with "scientific explanations
kind of lost me right there.
there are a lot of things he does not consider which makes me wonder about him and his research. i think that, even though in some cases he makes good arguments, he leaves out options, data and God to bolster his case.It does not sound as if Humphreys even considered that.
for example the location of mt. sinai is one good example as he places it in the land of Midian insteadof the sinai penn.

He's not DOING research.
He is a scientist trying to come up with SCIENTIFIC explanations for natural phenomena which are recorded in your silly bible as "miracles."
I'm pretty sure he was on a Naked Science episode showing off his 'crossing the Red Sea' theory with the use of a Holy Hair Dryer to hold back a pan of water. It was NOT compelling.
At the end of the show, Archaeologist Eric Cline came on to remind everyone that there is not the slightest shred of actual evidence that the Exodus ever happened.

i know what he was doing and it didn't bother me as many times God uses nature to demonstrate His power again most likely to bolster not destroy faith. He is a scientist trying to come up with SCIENTIFIC explanations for natural phenomena which are recorded in your silly bible as "miracles
that again is subject to interpretation .Archaeologist Eric Cline came on to remind everyone that there is not the slightest shred of actual evidence that the Exodus ever happened
back to humphries, he is a good example of a lot of the thinking i have to deal with as he places the exodus during the time of Ramses without considering to much other evidence.
his numerical devaluation of the israelite nation is done in such a off hand manner and again without showing how he came to such a conclusion ( he attributes it to his mathematical equations but doesn't show any in the book).
right now i am just reading him and he is not 'my guy' so far he has shown me to be more on the wingnut stage than the scientific one despite his credentials.

No. If you had any evidence instead of just bible stories you could have it "interpreted." NO EVIDENCE means there is nothing to interpret.
All you have is wishful thinking.

i did give you the title of the book of the archaeologist who said he discovered mt. sinai in the sinai penn. with evidence surrounding it.
lets see if you can deduce the title from that.
i also think i posted quotes from Israel in Egypt which address the issue so this eric kline fellow is drawing a conclusion with no evidence just a lack of it. not very smart.

I've told you before that "quotes" are worthless.
Let's see the evidence. Post a link to the evidence. Until such time as you can do that Cline and the other archaeologists who no longer consider the Exodus story as anything other than a bullshit story, have my vote.
