Essan, as you know, there are vast resevoirs of water within the earth, and who knows how much was under there in days gone by?

Additionally, water is roughly 70% of magma by weight, so with 30 pounds of extruded magma (lava), you get 70 lbs of liquid water, so you can see there was plenty of water which came through the "fountains of the deep."
Why is it that I can understand Doctor X's computations on the volume of water needed for the flood and I can't remotely figure out how you can get 70 pounds of anything out of only 30 pounds? If you are correct, which I strongly doubt, you woud need 100 pounds of magma to get 70 pounds of water if magma is 70% water.

No Leona, at depth, with all that pressure, the magma retains all that water in vapor form, amidst the molten minerals, this is one of the reasons for the mantle's semi-viscosity, so, over two times the amount of water by weight of water to minerals is what's down there, they measure this from the steam that comes off those lava flows, I did it on a college geology field-trip in Guatemala.

That's a much better explanation than you've offered so far. Keep that up.

X
you posted a definition originally posted by another poster which read thus
Magma is molten rock located beneath the surface of the Earth (or any other rocky planet), and which often collects in a magma chamber.

Magma is a complex high-temperature (between 650 and 1200 °C) silicate solution that is ancestral to all igneous rocks. It is capable of intrusion into adjacent crustal rocks or extrusion onto the surface.
then you commented
Holy Evaporation Point and Inappropriate Touching, Batman! There is no water mentioned in that definition!!
and now you are claiming that when i said, you said there was no water in Magma i was wrong

doesn't look like it does it
suggest you look up the word Narcissism for interesting clues as to your character

see if you were half as smart as you think you are you would have looked up the original source of the quote (wikipedia) and read where it says this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magma
It is usually very difficult to change the bulk composition of a large mass of rock, so composition is the basic control on whether a rock will melt at any given temperature and pressure. The composition of a rock may also be considered to include volatile phases such as water and carbon dioxide.
oh by the way
Wikipedia is not a reliable source
have a nice day

that may be so frank, but he still isn't providng some sortof link to back up his claim. all we have is his word and that has been proven to be unreliable.

the definition was posted out of context

like for instance if I was to post
God is....
were you to read the full quote you would see a different truth
http://x0xjenikax0x.tripod.com/id16.html

at no time did i agree with G.V's 70% claim
but for anyone to claim that water is not present in Magma is clearly untrue which is what Essan said and why you ridiculed him as well

had you referenced the full wikipedia article you would have seen water mention quite clearly further down
so you were doing what
trying to bend the truth
or
ridiculing out of ignorance
or
not researching the truth carefully

i have come to expect better than that of you X

so you are saying you knew that it was posted out of context and you knew that Magma contained water now
so clearly then you are just a liar
and you feel a need to lie to refute creationism

thats pretty Bad X

and maybe you should have read the posted link too huh

and no ones playing here
