With all these eyebrows I've apparently raised - thanks but no - suddenly it's kinda uncomfortable. But you've still got DV and Archy - lots of fun for you huh?

This raises a good question. We all stop from time to time, in our archaeological pursuits, to kick a troll in the ass. Great sport.

We should run a poll. What percent Archaeology should we make sure we achieve? What percent troll punching?

I'm sure we all have different numbers in mind and there is no one sure answer.

With all these eyebrows
For the record - make that a couple of eyebrows. Minimalist was not one of them. Repeat not.

And it was just a question.

Nope, absolutely not.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

Hi all,

No doubt you "regular" posters who are replying to the religion-based trolls are thinking that you are "fighting the good fight," but you are deluding yourselves. Plus, I imagine that it is probably sort of fun to engage in such debate with the fundies. But you should be made aware of something.

Quite frankly, some of us would love to seriously discuss some real archaeology and paleoanthropology here, but do not have time to weed through the crap. We are busy professionals, with real day jobs. I am a cognitive neuroscientist with interests in human brain development, and my friend JulieB is trained in paleoethnobotany, interested in talking to any and all about the early development of agriculture in the Americas. She is now a lawyer, but has not lost her interest in her "true love". You want some expert information about carbon dating? Ask JulieB.

By contantly replying to and engaging the fundies, you actually contribute to the driving away of those of us who do not have the time to engage in such debates. You may interprete that as snobishness, but it is really a matter of time management. We have to deal with this every day in our daily work, and to expect us to have to deal with it in our spare free time is just not realistic.

To many of us, message boards such as this one are semi-recreational. If we have time, we would love to participate. But as it stands now, sorry, no. That saddens me, but it is true.

I find myself annoyed with some of the regulars here .
When OAS fisrst appeared on this board I found myself particapating in archaeological debate , which is something thats been sadly lacking here since the inclusion of two other members .
But instead of welcoming an obviously experienced archaeologist you help the antagonists on this board drive a new member away .
That result is a new low for this forum !!

you know if i thought that this post was real i would have a few words for the poster. but instead i have a question or two; 1.why would a neuroscientist and a lawyer even consider posting on this board? 2. if that is really true then why would they even take the time let alone have the time to post such statements that undermine any credibility before they even start here?

here is what you sound like:

1. a two year old
2. a spoiled child
3. a blackmailer
4. a extortionist

all of which shows that you have no respect for the board nor the owner of same who has set her rules as is her freedom to do so. to hold your knowledge back until you have the conditions you want shows such pettiness that anything you have to say now is just worthless. for at anytime something doesn't go your way, you will withhold such participation till or leave for good/

i feel sorry for whoever wrote that post.

please feel free to pm him and convince him to return, then you can engage him. i realize it is not my place to say that but come on, use your brain instead of chastising someone because you lost a play date.

The last two posts say it all.

Tech's defininiton of a "decent poster" is one he agrees with.

What happened to that great marketplace of ideas concept, Tech?
