what is convenient is that people on your side take sparse evidence and make conclusions then argue from their bias.
doesnt the bible say all that wealth was ransacked and nothing was left??live in a small town and it is not hard to find where the wealth is, thus even if jerusalem was as small as finkelstein says, it does not preclude that wealth was absent from the village. it is only wishful and hateful thinking to think so.
he does make a point despite his failings.doesnt the bible say all that wealth was ransacked and nothing was left??
so it archeologists would be hard pressed to find evidence, and thus confirm the biblical accounts
the problem i find with dever and finkelstein is that they make assumptions long before they should. they come into the study with a pre-fixed belief and dig accordingly, so i doubt that what they do find will be interpretated correctly. now this also goes for those evangelicals who do nothing but try to find something to prove their belief.I regard it less as 'keeping me honest' than as being a good straight man for my jokes, arch.
