Thanks muchly for the link, Johnny. As you can see in the comments section, this is an important issue for many people of Cherokee ancestry.

So, to the Cherokee, it was an all or nothing type thing?

That's exactly right. At some point in the 1830s, an ancestor of mine named Nancy Bear, who was likely 1/2 or 1/4, decided to opt for nothing. As such, 1/8 Isleta Pueblo is the only native ancestry I can prove.
